I'm a fangirl. So sue me. x3;
The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass
SO YEAH! TYPICAL ZELDA SERIES GAME HERE PPLZ! well, not really. the DS takes the game to a lvl where it wasnt before. xP;;;

Plot: Tetra is a person who belives yet is not afraid of ghosts. So valantly jumps onto the Ghost Ship when everyone is screaming "NOOOO DONT!!!" It all goes quiet, then a SCREAM echoes. Link jumps to the ship, but doesnt make it in time as it started to move. He wakes up with a fairy named Cecile over his head being all Navi-like with her "HEY!" "LOOK!" "LISTEN!" routine, and off we go to save the princess. again.

You get teamed up with THREE fairies and Linebeck, who, btw, owns your only mode of transportation across the sea.

Gameplay and Battle Sytem: EVERYTHING is touch with just a few shortcuts on the D-pad. now, some people are all BLAH about it, but it was actually very refined and well made, albiet it made the battles very easy, since all i had to do was tap at the enemy to preform what is the equavalent of Z+A in the N64 games. what was really funny about that is that if you were at one end of the screen, and the enemy on the other, and you're both on the same ground level, Link would jump the WHOLE distance to get the enemy. xD;;;

As in every Zelda game, you use your items to beat bosses and get past areas and stuff. I like what they did new to the Grapplehook--that was fun. Unusually enough, I didn't have a problem in most dungeons. the only place i DID have a problem in was the Ice dungeon and its boss, other than that, it was pretty much smooth sailing. Literally. xD

Like in Wind Waker, you sail the open seas--4 parts of the same sea, which is goverened by the Ocean King. As before, you have a cannon and a Salvage arm, which is now a minigame to use. You also get a fishing rod to fish out fish, and that, in itself, is alooot of fun. xP;
The salvage arm got on my nerves at first, but after a while it became easy to use because it turns out the lvls repeated themselves. the fishing is obnoxiously fun, yet its hard to get into that minigame becasue you have to chase the fish before you can fish them.

Also, while on the open seas, watch out for pirates, especially Jolene--every time i've gone across of her, she managed to board my ship and catch me. sweatdrop

Like in every Zelda game, you have to collect two sets of items--befoer and after the "plot twist," which wasnt very twisty. what made me go "Oxo WHAT!" then ";w; so sweet~ yay~" was the game's ending. I just..really didnt expect it. and no, the sweetness thing has nothing to do with Link and Tetra. v.v

Characters: so let's count them off of our fingers, shall we?

Link: I...like this Link. ALOT. He amuses me because when he's not being all heroic saving people, he is a KLUTZ. xD;;; seriously. Oro eyes are all too common on him. xP;

Just like in WW, his eyes will still look at important things. But because the screen is so small and you cant see his eyes too well, the emphasized the whole things by making him turn his head as well.

Tetra: she was soooo much better in WW. this time around, she's too much of a D.I.D. to be anything else. but at the beginning, she was all very pirate-y indeed with her cool jumps and yelling at people. Her crew keeps calling her Princess Zelda all the time though. xD;;; poor lady.

Cecile: Take Navi and devide her by two, then give her a hatred/stong dislike for Linebeck and you've got Cecile. She's a crazy fairy, this one. I like her better than the other two though--I mean, a fire fairy named Leaf? HELLO! D: They should have just called them, Din, Nyaru, and Farore.

Oshu: he makes me LOL becasue he's good at making Link look dumb, especially later on. He can also 'manipulate' Linebeck with telling the guy EXACTLY what he wants to hear, so.... xP; He also has the strange ability to teleport almost anywhere, freaking the lights out of Linebeck and Link at times.

Linebeck: As they say, save the best for last!! This guy is...a coward. He likes to pretend he's a hero, but he's just a cowardly guy who's after treasure. Cecile hates him because she can see right through him, and apparently Link doesnt care. But really, he makes me lol because he does some of the FUNNIEST things. And I just enjoy his presence because it's a nice difference than just being alone or stuck with a fairy. and his convo with Oshu in the middle of the game made me LOL.

We use his ship though, so we have no choice than just to listen to what he has to say, but you wont hear complains from me! He turns very supportive near the end of the game though. Srsly, cheering you one and stuff when you're doing the second phase of the final boss. It was great! x3 heart

Music: LOVELY. They used alot from WW, so it didnt lose its familiarity, but there was still new musics. either way, the song on the open ocean is still my fave~

All in all, i give it a 8.5/10. Zelda is just that great, peeps. x3

laters!

I'm actually playing through this game again. It's as awesome as the last time I played it.
