The Garnet Tablet
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

My brand new favourite book.

I recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading, and even to those who don't.

Sure, there is a lot of alchemy in the story. But one common misconception that people have is that alchemy is purely and simply the search for the Philosopher's Stone aka the Elixir of Life. People forget that alchemy is also a philosophy and spiritual discipline. This story reminds people of that, and ultimately it's a touching story about one young man's quest to fulfil his Personal Legend.

Author Paulo Coelho was born and lives in Rio de Janeiro. He is an internationally acclaimed author and prominent speaker for humanitarian causes. The Alchemist is an international best seller, having been translated into fifty-six languages and selling more than 20 million copies worldwide.

I took this book with me to camp, hoping to read it over the course of the first and second night there. However, the first night I escorted my friends back to their tent, as they did not have a torch, and stayed with them for a while until a spare torch was found. The second night, I lent my torch to a friend and my tent buddy was tired so we went to sleep.

So when did I read this book? On the bus ride back to school. It only took me... 2 hours? I was so sleepy, but this book kept me awake. It was impossible for me to put it down.

For all those who like love stories... Yes, there is some love in there.
