Animania was fun... but cramped. The venue was much too small for the amount of people that came. Although, since it is the first time Animania has been conducted in melbourne, I guess they weren't expecting such a great turnout.
In saying that, there weren't as many cosplayers as I had thought there would be. However, most of them were very good. There were a couple of skits, although most of them aren't really worth mentioning... The best was the first, a Tsunade and Kakashi skit - I'll see if I can upload it, but someone else probably already has. I'll put up photos I took of cosplayers too. Strangely enough, I took no photos of my friends and I, just cosplay. I thin there should be a few photos of me in the Animania gallery though, so when they post up the official photos I'll take a look and see if I can find some.
There were karaoke, art, cosplay and skit competitions, and to my immense surprise (not) my friend won the art competition. I was a last minute entry into the karaoke competition - literally, I signed up on the day a few minutes before the end of the karaoke - and although I didn't win I got great feedback from some of the audience (yay!) and almost lost my hat in the process.
The screenings weren't dubbed (thank God, I was so worried!) and the only one I paid any attention to was Gravitation, which I unfortunately missed most of. I didn't spend much on the day, only about AU$30, since I didn't buy any anime or manga. I bought a few badges, two bookmarks, and a couple of things for friends who missed out on going. Also, ~ getsumei ~ bought me a keyring of Hyuuga Neji. heart Awesome~!
That doesn't include food and drink though, and the money I gave my brother. Including that, it would still only be at about AU$50, I think. Next year I think I'll definately be spending more though.
Bah, I have to go now. More details coming up real soon, and links to photos and skits.
Edit: Okay, here's some photos:
My favourite bookmark. heart
The Naruto products I bought. There was a cute chibi Hinata badge as well, but I lost it on the way home. stressed
A close-up of the Neji keyring can be found here.
Also, here is a skit I uploaded, with permission from one of the cosplayers involved.
