A GNAT.. FLEW INTO.. MY EYE.
Last night I bike'd over to Sarah's house to pick up some Hippie clothes for MORP Friday night. Well, not even two houses down from my place, I look up to see if it's really a car or some porchlights when BAM, GNAT IN EYE.
Of course, I brake hard and skitter to a stop on the side of the road, my eyes already going into uber-tear mode to get the foreign object out. Knowing rubbing it won't do any good, I squint my eyes and attempt to press on and let the tears do their job.
BUT THE GNAT STILL LIVED.
It bit me, or something, but I was soon doubled over in pain on the handlebars of my bike, yelling things as loud as I could, and scaring the little children down the street. I rubbed the side of my eye, and out comes this little black thing, and I'm assuming it's the gnat.
My eye still in EXTREME PAIN, I continue towards Sarah. On my way, I passed several joggers and bikers. They looked at me like I was some abused kid running away. I bet it looked like it, too.
I woke up Friday morning and my eye was goop'd shut. After carefully rinsing it with warm water for a few minutes, I thought it'd be okay for the day. The swelling had gone down, at least.. though my eye was still morbidly red if I looked to my right.
Friday afternoon-ish, mom sent the Nurse down to see me and look at my eye. She said from the looks of it that it didn't look too serious, but if I woke up the next morning and it was still goopy, I should get it checked in case it's infected. Well, mom takes me to Albertson's to go to the pharmacy and get something to perhaps help it heal. We talk to the pharmicist, and he said basically the same thing. He suggested it might've been broken blood vessels due to the impact of the gnat hitting my eye. I seriously had to hold back laughter and keep a straight face. I wasn't going that fast, and neither was the gnat.
Anyway, Saturday morning comes. And guess what? My eye is goop'd over.
So we get dressed and mom takes me to the Minor Emergency Center of Denton. We get there around 9:45 in the morning, and the place doesn't open 'till 10:00 on Saturdays, so we go by Albertson's, get some stamps, and go to the doughnut shop. We get back at the clinic around 11:15, and there's a huge line of people!! Figures, ne?
We waited for around 2 hours before taking me back into the little room, and wait another 30-45 minutes. I called Sarah during this time, because I was supposed to be going with her and Madison to Lewisville Lake to camp out for Smokefest. Well anyway, the doctor-lady comes in, numbs my eye, and dies it a fluorescent yellow. Literally, if you held a blacklight to my eye, it would be glowing a freaky yellow. So anyway, mom holds the blacklight over my eye and the doctor looks at it, and it turns out I have....
... CORNEAL ABRASIONS.
Infected Corneal Abrasions, nonetheless.. which means, BTW, in case you couldn't figure it out, I have cuts on my eye that are infected. So she rinses my eye out and gives us a prescription for some antibiotic eye-drop. I have to drip it in my eye three times a day for a week. Not too bad.. even though I apparently can't tell when it's over my eye or not. I've dropped it on my cheek at least twice now. But at least my eye looks slightly better.
Here's a pic of it Friday or so.. sorry for the low quality of the pic. Here's how it looks today, Monday. Better, yes? As you can see, the redness is going away. That first night, though... eph.. I bet I looked like Frankenstein or something.
