Yes, i wrote a fanfic even though i said i wouldnt.
no, i wasnt inspired. i was booooored.
so here's a fanfic for you guys to enjoy! -w-
its about Final Fantasy 3. and for those of you who dont know it too well (or at all), i shall provide a brief description for the names in the fic:--
Luneth: main chara. i love the way he looks, and he has a laid back kinda attitude.
Arc: Luneth's best friend and almost-brother. they grew up with each other, so...
Refia: the smith's daughter. she's a bit tempramental...
Ignus: the quite, solid, indifferent kind of guy. except he's got a ton of honor, and is very close to the king of his kingdom.
Aria: priestess of the water Crstal.
Kraken: boss of the water crystal. i didnt like him one bit.
Oxyale: its actually from FF1, and yeah, it does what it says in the fic, but i set the time limit on it...
Amuer: the city they wake up in. it's got 4 old coots that are just a ton of laughs. xD
right, i should also explain a few more things:
Luneth, Arc, Refia, and Ignus are traveling together.
all 4 of them are orphans. Luneth and Arc grew up with each other, but Refia and Ignus grew up in different towns.
i have no idea how Luneth's real mom looks like, but that's how i imagine her to be.
and i havent beaten the game yet, thout i HAVE played past this part.
ALSO!! this is for Veggie--it starts out as a deathfic, but it ISNT. its more of dark humor. so...>.> <.<
AND!! If anyone wants to see how the charas look like, go back a few journal entries...its the one where i rant about Fairly Oddparents...>.>;;
now...to the fic!!
Oxyale
Death crept quietly around the edges of his consciousness. Luneth was sinking like a rock, and he wasn’t about to save himself. That fight with the Kraken has taken a lot more out of him than he thought—his hands were bruised, cut, and beaten from the excessive use of his bow, and his right arm was completely paralyzed from the pain that surged through it when the Kraken had grabbed him, whirling him in the sky momentarily before sending a stinging shock through his body and tossing him to the wall. Luneth heard the outcries of his comrades as he flew into the wall and fell off of it in the manner of a rag doll, and he heard his name being shouted out by his closest friend, Arc, as he crashed in the water. Yet no one followed him into the cold depths of the ocean cave.
Well, of course no one followed him; they were busy trying to kill off the fiend that did this to him. They thought he’d be okay, since they all had taken a sip of Oxyale before they went into the cave, under the priestess’ warning of drowning. Oxyale, as Aria had described, was a form of water that can only be called forth by the fairies, and once it was consumed, it allowed the consumer to breath freely underwater for a set amount of time. The sip that everyone took would be enough for them to survive a few years underwater. Only…
Only Luneth didn’t take a sip.
No, it wasn’t overconfidence that did that. It was his love for his three comrades that made him do so…
Well, since the last time the priestesses had received a shipment of Oxyale was well over a few decades, there wasn’t much left. Well, not enough for four people.
So Luneth didn’t drink any as to make sure everyone else did.
So, yes; he was drowning now.
Luneth always believed that everything would work itself out no matter what it was. If they were in a near death situation, then somebody was going to get an idea of how to get out of it. And that was usually Ignus, the professional soldier among their group. Sometimes their surroundings had a say in it. Like landing in water—it was much better than landing on one of the many stalagmites in the cave. But it more than obviously developed the current problem of drowning.
There were a three ways this was going to work itself out: 1) he’d swim to upwards to save himself, but he was absolutely exhausted; so that was out. 2) Someone would come to his rescue; that was automatically out—if someone came to his rescue, then the other two would surely be killed. 3) He’d drown…and that was the only possible solution there, and that made him really unhappy. Things that work themselves out for him before never resulted in death! It usually fell to the other two options!
Luneth was overtaken by many memories then, and for some reason, it was the unimportant stuff first, then the more important stuff last. As his mind wavered, it brought upon him the memory he’d only seen in his dreams—his mother. He saw her as he has always seen her in his sleep—a silhouette. He could tell that her hair was silver, like his, and that she was a red mage, for the hat and the top of that cape made it extremely obvious (Ignus loved the red mage class, so Luneth had the outfit memorized by now). He could also tell that she was holding him, and he was looking up. He never saw her face, but he knew that it was his mother and no one else—it was one of those things that a person just instinctively knows.
Upon seeing that memory, Luneth grew clam about his death as a small smile set itself on his face. Everything will definitely be alright…and he felt his mind getting ready for permanent sleep.
At the very last moment of his consciousness, two things happened to Luneth: 1) he felt someone yanking him upward and out of the water, and 2) it occurred to him that there was option 4) they’d finish off the Kraken rapidly and come to his rescue.
…Oh. Why didn’t he think of that before? …maybe it was because he was panicking…
So he woke up a full day later than his comrades did in Amuer. Big deal.
And his right arm was in a cast for a few days before Arc could muster the energy to heal it. Big deal.
But what bugged him the most was not Refia’s never-ending rant about how foolish his actions were (actually, it lasted for three hours, so it wasn’t exactly never-ending), not Arc going almost in tears when Luneth woke up, it was Ignus, who simply stood there, leaning against the wall, with his lips pursed into a small frown, without saying a word, and when he finally did speak, he acted like the whole scenario didn’t even happen.
…At times like these Luneth wished one of two things: 1) he wished that Ignus would just shout at him like Refia does, or 2) he wished that he was a bit more appreciated.
