Chapter One: Break it
This is an Outsiders fanfic, and my very first fanfic at that matter. So comment and tell me what you think X] Comments are <3

“Break it. Come on, I dare you.” I looked at him, he had a grin on his face. Why was he so stupid?
“I’m not done with it.” I told him taking another sip. I knew it annoyed him when I took tiny little sips like I did. Jackson frowned and eventually hit the Coke bottle out of my hand. It hit the ground and shattered. The sun reflected on all the little pieces of glass. I stood there, my hand still cupped like I was holding an invisible bottle. I stared at him. He was grinning again.
“Jackass.” I hit Jackson in the arm and he laughed. “I said I wasn’t done with it.”
“Well maybe if you took normal drinks and wouldn’t sip it like an elegant girl.” Jackson tried to imitate a girl drinking tea. He put his pinky in the air. I looked at him like he was a moron, which he was.
“That comparison makes no sense. I don’t drink like that. I’m sorry I don’t chug it down and get sick later.” Jackson laughed and I hit him again. Sometimes I wondered why we were even friends. Jackson stopped laughing and rubbed his arm. It was the only way to get him to shut up sometimes.
“You know, violence won’t solve anything.” Jackson told me. I shook my head.
“Where the hell have you been? Violence does solve everything.” I stepped back a bit to take a good look at Jackson. The jackass and I had the same style hair. Long sideburns and short . The only difference was my hair was a dull red and his was a dark brown, almost black. It was the only thing we shared. His skin was tanned, and I was pale as hell. His eyes were gray, and when he wanted to he could hold you with his gaze. My eyes were just as dull as my hair. They were green, and dead.
I envied Jackson for his looks. All the girls flocked to him. The only time a girl would talk to me was if they were asking me about Jackson. I got used to it, girls were a waste of my time anyway.
I felt someone squeeze my shoulder and tensed up a bit. I relaxed though when I heard them talk. “What are you guys doing?” Dallas asked. I looked at him and then back at Jackson.
“Standing here.” I told him. Dallas took a drag of his weed and then threw it on the ground.
“Thank you for pointing that out. I can see that.” He took his hand off of my shoulder and moved over to Jackson a bit. I haven’t seen Dally in a long time, not since what happened to Johnny. I gradually lost touch with Dall and the rest of them; the Curtis brothers, Steve and Two-Bit. That was awhile back.
“I thought you were supposed to be in the cooler.” Jackson said, looking Dally up and down.
Now Dallas looked at Jackson like he was an idiot.
“I was. I got out a few weeks ago.” He shook his head and looked around. “Listen, I’m going over to the Curtis house, you guys want to come?” I shrugged.
“I don’t know Dall. I haven’t seen them in a long time-”
“Come on,” Dally cut me off. “That’s my point. You haven’t seen them in a long time. They were talking about you clowns the other day; how they wanted to see you again.” I looked at Jackson. He shrugged too. Dallas sighed. “Would you p***y’s just come on.” I didn’t want to get Dall mad, so I agreed and after yelling at Jackson for a bit, he came along too.

It was weird to see their house. It was even weirder when I saw all of them again. Soda was the first one to spot me; I came in after Dally. “Tommy.” Soda chimed. It was nice to see he was still the same. Back in the day me and Soda were the closest; back in the day? It was only a few months ago. A few months felt like a few years though.
Soda came up and got me in a bear hug. I wasn’t the kind of guy to hug other guys, but I was okay with hugging Sodapop. It seemed, I don’t know, natural. I patted Soda on the back when he let go of me. The next person I went to hug was Two-Bit. He was the second person I was closest to. As usual he was watching Mickey Mouse. He didn’t notice me coming in. I smirked a little and went up behind him.
“M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!” I sang. Two-Bit jumped and turned around quickly to see who was singing. When he saw it was me he grinned and got up off the floor.
“Tommy boy. Where have you been?” Two-Bit asked as he hugged me as well. I shrugged when he let go.
“Around.” I laughed weakly and so did Two-Bit. I looked around and saw Ponyboy come out of his room. I wondered if him and Soda still shared that room. I waved to him and he smiled. “Ponyboy. You’ve grown.” I joked.
“It’s only been a few months.” He said coming over to me. I shrugged.
“You still could have grown.” He nodded and I patted him on the back. Me and Pony weren’t that close.
“Where’s Jackson? That moron usually follows you around.” Pony asked, looking around. I began to look around too.
“He was behind me. I-oh. He’s on the porch with Steve. Those two were a couple of nuts.” I shook my head remembering all of the stunts those two pulled. Steve looked inside and waved to me. I waved back. I was less close to Steve than with Pony. In fact the first time me and Steve met we hated each other and almost got into a fight. I hate to say it but I think it was over Soda.
I sighed and saw Darry come out of the bathroom, all wet and smelling clean. I used to be afraid of Darry, and still was. That was the only real reason I had respected him; out of fear. When Darry went into his room I turned back to Soda. I had wanted to talk with him more than anyone. Besides, Two-Bit was now glued to the TV and knew he wouldn’t start talking with me until the Mickey Mouse show was over. I was cool with it though.
“How are you and Sandy?” I asked Soda. I hadn’t forgotten about Sandy. Soda and her were the perfect couple. I couldn’t imagine them splitting. Soda stared at me for a few seconds and smiled, it looked forced.
“Um, actually, she moved to Florida.” Soda laughed weakly. I think it was more of embarrassment then anything else. I looked at him confused.
“What? Why?”
“Well, she got pregnant with someone else’s baby and then-” Soda paused suddenly, laughing weakly again. “I offered to take care of it anyway and, now she’s in Florida.” I felt like a fool then for asking about her.
“I’m sorry.” Soda shook his head and finally looked at me.
“It’s ok. You didn’t know.” I felt like a bigger fool. If I would of stayed then I would of known. I sighed and looked out to see if Jackson was still on the porch, he was.
Darry came back out of his room. He was dressed in his work clothing. He spotted me and smiled. He knew I was afraid of him, and he got a kick out of it. I tensed up a bit and forced a smile on my face.
“Darrel.” I said with a quick nod. He slowly came over to me and I held my breath. I didn’t know what he was going to do.
“Thompson.” He said looking me over. Darry then held his hand out. We used to shake hands instead of hugging. I placed my pale hand into Darry’s and he clamped it around mine. The next thing I know Darry pulled me forward and he was hugging me. Just as quick as it happened it was over. I was standing there with my arm still out, Darry was heading for the door.
“You better be here Mr. Thompson, when I get back.” Darry threatened me. I nodded and forced another smile.
“Still afraid of him?” Soda asked when Darry was out of the house and in his truck. I nodded, still standing there as Darry left me after the hug. I still had that fake as hell smile on my face too.
