Recently, someone asked me about the relation between Furude Rika, Frederica Bernkastel, and The Witch of Miracles Bernkastel.
I thought I'd take this opportunity to post my thoughts and what I responded.

Remember, these aren't completely canon/proved. As more When They Cry episodes are released, some of these thoughts could either be denied or confirmed even further.

Now regarding these three:
They are all one person, but at the same time 3 different people.
Now, in When They Cry, a person can be two people if they have two different personalities. If a person in 1 kakera was raised differently, or by any reason has a certain personality, while that same person in another kakera has another personality, they can be considered different people. Even if it's the same person.

Also a person with two personalities in one body can be considered two different people.
How is this related to the three? One can say the names of these three represent their personalities.
Furude Rika = A normal girl that lives happily with her friends in Hinamizawa. Or just a normal girl with little to no supernatural influence whatsoever (by this, I mean it's possible that worlds without Hanyuu exist).
Frederica Bernkastel = A "witch" of "a hundred" years who's aware of the different parallel universes, fragments = kakera. Could be counted as the Rika we see in Higurashi, and the person we see at end of Higurashi Kai saving Tanashi Miyoko, and the witch who was in the same situation Umineko's Battler is in.
The Witch of Miracles, Bernkastel = A "cruel" witch of "a thousand" years who's constantly escaping what is poison for witches, that is boredom. Note* Bernkastel was also in the same situation Battler is in. (Which is why we can say/theorize she's Frederica)
In Saikoroshi-hen (Higurashi Rei) Rika gave herself the name FURUDERIKA (with the purpose of it sounding western, it's translated to Frederica) Bernkastel. That Rika is aware of the kakera, her witch self recieves that name or one could say, she has that name.
Higurashi was game between witches, in it, Frederica Bernkastel was born. Who in theory, it was thanks to Featherine (and indirectly Lambdadelta/Lambdadelta's piece. See Lambda's Diary in Umineko TIPS), theory says Featherine was the game master of Higurashi (and possibly Hanyuu/her piece self, or Hanyuu was her other piece but not herself). Like Battler is/was fighting for his family in the meta-world in Umineko, Frederica fought for herself (Rika) in the meta-world in Higurashi, as well.
By the end of Saikoroshi-hen, FURUDERIKA Bernkastel, who went back to her world, decided to go back to being "Furude Rika". The "happy" personality that lives "happily" with her friends (we can say the Rika in Saikoroshi-hen that isn't the reincarnation of Oyashiro-sama is also Rika).
At that moment (or maybe at different moments), the real witch Frederica Bernkastel decides to cut ties with the "FURUDERIKA" (Frederica) name. And just stays with "Bernkastel". That way, having no connection to Rika and becoming a completely different person.
Although in Umineko there was a poem by "Frederica Bernkastel" and not "Bernkastel", I've come up with the thought that at every moment she feels to need to drop the "Cruelest Witch" title, she goes back to that name.
This what I've come up with so far regarding the relation of the three. These are my thoughts, so it's possible that others may disagree.
