Evil Soup
What is the evil soup? Some say a curse. Some say a blessing. But it truly is what they call it. It truly is an evil soup. Some would give countless lives just for the recipe, but what they do not know is what you must give in order to drink it. The price for immortally is to give up what makes you human. And afterwards your very life depends on its contents. Who would have guessed a few vegetables and broth could be so…life changing. But then again, the special ingredient is what makes it truly evil. Dragon.
And the price one pays for, for immortality is their soul. Then again the word “immortal” should be used very loosely, because if one were to go with out this soup they would indeed die. It is more or less is eternal youth. But at what cost?
Fifteen hundred years ago one was offered a sip of this soup. Someone so promising, he had a helping hand in destroying the powerful heylin witch Wuya, and soon would become a Xiaolin Dragon. But there were darker forces at work.
The day when the heylin had taken this young man was a dark day in history.

Shen-Gon-Wu
Shen-Gon-Wu, magical artifacts used to defeat the heylin witch Wuya fifteen hundred years ago. The three Xiaolin dragons, Chase Young, Master Monk Gwan, and Grand Master Dashi, used them to defeat. When they had Grand Master Dashi and his loyal dragon Dojo spread them though out the world.
The night Chase had taken a sip of the evil soup, pieces of his soul were scattered attaching to a few of the dozens of Shen-Gon-Wu. And they only way to find them was to wait for them to re-activate. No one would have guessed it would have taken so long. Or what the consequences were.

The Key
“You must swear to me you will never make the same mistake as me.” One said.
Two sets of footsteps walked down the stone staircase, a torch brightened the path as the pair drew closer to the bottom.
“Yes, I promise.” The other said solemnly.
They reached the bottom of the staircase together. They were now in a dungeon like room. A rat scurried away from them into a small whole that was in stonewalls. The sound of dripping water was drowned out by their footsteps and words.
“Good.” The first one said pulling on a chain that lay around his neck, on the end of was a small silver key. He slipped it off and walked over to a steel cabinet lifting the lock in his hand he slipped the key in unlocking it. He opened the cabinet, in it there were only a few small containers left in it. He reached in taking one out and closed the steel cabinet locking it back up.
“Your running out.” The other said softly.
“Yes. And I fear what will happen when I run out.”
“Can’t you just make some more?”
“Yes, I suppose I could but-” he paused for a moment. “When ever I do. I fear he will once again try to take it.”
“Who?”
“A rat.” He voice was bitter.
“Oh…”
“He knows to much.”
“Does he know were the key is?” She asked.
He sighed softly and nodded “I am afraid so.”
“So then give it to me! Then he won’t know!” She pleaded.
“Do you honestly believe you can handle that?”
“Yes, you have trained me well. I won’t let you down!”
He held the key in his hand closing it tightly. She was right, he had trained her, and she was doing very well. But the rat was even a threat to him, but if he had the chance he would have killed him. The only problem was someone who had no soul could not kill the rat.
She watched him intensely, “please Chase.”
He looked at her. “You are very bold, or very stupid.” A smiled crept to his lips “I am wearing off on you.” He took the chain in his hands and placed it around her neck.
“I wont let you down.”
“I know.”

Unexpected
The storm clouds came in so fast, and with a flash of lightning they started to pour down water. It seemed as if the heavens themselves were crying. But rain like this was common. What was going to happen next, that was what was truly unexpected.
“Come young monks hurry inside before you get catch a cold!” The master of the dojo called out to his four apprentices. With out a second word they ran inside.
“You all better not get sick. I am not tending to your little sniffles.” The snippy dragon Dojo said handing out towels to the four.
The four went to their respected rooms to change and dry off, when the master looked back outside “I sense a great disturbance…”
“It must have been that chili you ate, if there was a disturbance I would know” Dojo said drying off.
“This is not a matter to be taken lightly. Something is indeed very wrong.” He said in a grim tone getting up and walked to the entrance way opening the door. He looked up at the great mountain that seemed so near to them.
“Are you sure its not the chili?” he asked wrapping the towel on his head.
The master seemed to give him a glair that could send shivers down any mans back, no matter how tough.
Dojo gulped “ok…defiantly not the chili….”
Looking back out watching the rain, for the distance you could see a figure of someone running closer and closer, soon entering on to the training grounds of the monastery, and collapsing to their knees.
“Should I get the kids?!” Dojo said now very alert.
“There is no need for that.” The master said walking out into the rain, to the figure. Coming closer he seen it was a girl, who was in great distress and turmoil. He kneeled down to her holding out his hand “you mustn’t stay out here, come with me.” The girl took it and let him lead her inside.
Upon entering the dragon knew almost instantly who she was and looked at the master like he had lost it. “What are you doing?!”
“She will do no harm, get me some hot water and dry towels.” He said calmly. The dragon crawled off muttering something under his breath, he didn’t like this at all.
He lead her to a chair so she could sit down, when she did he noticed four rather deep gashes on her chest. It looked at if someone had tried to rip something of, like a necklace. “You will need that treated immediately, or you could go into shock due to blood loss.” he said softly lifting her chin to get a better look at it.
“It is fine.” She placed her hand over it, wincing as her skin hit the open wounds.
“That’s a nasty one” Dojo said crawling in the towels and water. “You really should let Master Fung clean it up.”
She sighed moving her hand away “fine…”
Master Fung cleaned it out with the hot water and bandaged it. “If I may ask, why are you here?” He asked.
“I…” She paused looking away. “He…did this. I can’t go back….” She said softly. “I can’t go back to him… He changed.”
“That’s Chase for ya” Dojo said crossing his arms.
“Dojo!” Master Fung scolded him.
“What?! Chase is the bad guy! I know that you know that. Everyone knows that!”
“No he’s not!” The girl yelled. “You don’t understand!”
“He seemed pretty evil to me, always beating us up. Getting in our way. He is on the Heylin side!” Dojo said putting his hands on…his hips if he had any…
“Heylin or not he is not evil! He was just trying to get is sol back…at least that’s…what I thought…” she sat back down holding her head.
“You may stay here, if you wish if you follow our rules. And train with the other Xiaolin monks” Master Fung said trying to change the subject.
“Thank you sir. I will.” She said in a sad voice.
“I know you will…Dojo take her to the guest room. Tomorrow she will start as a dragon apprentice.” He said and walked out.
“Come on.” Dojo muttered crawling off still very unhappy. The girl followed sighing softly looking back one last time at the mountain.

“Master Fung are you sure this is wise?” The little bald one asked a bit leery on his great teachers choice in new students.
“Yes of course dear Omi.” Master Fung said folding his arms into his sleeves over his chest. “She has been trained very well, and I believe you all could learn much from her. Now I don’t want to hear any back talk from any of you.”
“Yes Master Fung” they all said in unison bowing. He smiled and went back inside.
“I say the old man has finally flipped his rocker.” Rai said looking at the new girl “I mean come on! This could all be a trick by her and Chase to get the Wu!”
“We must trust Master fungs judgment…my matter how strange it may be…” the little bald one named Omi said though still leery.
“Yea come on Rai have some faith, people do change.” Kimiko said pushing Rai into the water.
“I shall go shatter the liquid” Omi put on a brave face.
“That’s ‘break the ice’.” Rai sat up drenched in the fountain water.
Omi shrugged walking over to her. “Hi since we are on the same team now lets be friends” he smiled big “I’m Omi.”
“I know who you are.” Her tone was soft and depressed.
“And I know who you are, but if we start off on a new boulder. We can be friends.”
In the back ground Rai slapped his forehead at Omi’s horrible slang.
She looked at Omi. “…. You are a very strange little man…”
“Why thank you!”
She shook her head. “Fine, I am Karin. Happy?”
“Oh yes so very happy!” he clung to her hugging her tight.
“Get off of me.” She said in a cold voice.
Omi let go quickly and ran back over to the other three who were avoiding her like she had the plague or something.
Karin sighed pulling her long black hair into a pony tail ‘why Chase….’ She thought closing her eyes tightly.

Sometimes why isn’t always the best question to ask. Sometimes the better question is who?

Back in time
One thing Chase hated the most was being interrupted while mediating. And of course that was the one thing his assistant was best at. He was finally relaxed in his meditating position when of course she ran in. “Chase!” She yelled running in.
He grunted opening one of his eyes looking at her.
“Oh…I’m sorry,” she said sheepishly looking down.
“This better be important.” He was losing patience’s with her.
“Oh yes! It is!” She said quickly “A new Shen-Gon-Wu has reviled its self.”
“You know I have no interest in those little…trinkets” he closed his eye attempting to go back to mediating.
“Yes I know but… this one has something I think you may be interested in…”
He grunted “Oh really?”
“Yes, it is one that holds a piece of your soul.”
Now Chase was very interested by this fact. He opened his eyes and got up, “how do you know this?”
“You underestimate my sensitivity to these things.”
“Yes…I suppose you may be right.” He had a bit of an amused smile on his face.

That was a few months ago. It was an interesting time, for both Karin and Chase. As more and more Shen-Gon-Wu with his soul reviled themselves, he seemed to become more and more human. And as he became more human he began to show more emotions, kindness, compassion, caring, and love.
He had indeed fallen for Karin and made his feeling very apparent. And to his surprise she had returned the feeling. But something was lurking in the shadows growing more and more powerful with every new Wu.

Never trust a monster
Karin sighed softly sitting on her bed pulling her long white hair into a ponytail. She placed her hand on her chest over the four cuts closing her eyes tight. It had been a month now, they had healed up for the more part but would leave scars that would last for an eternity.
“You were so close…” she muttered, “what happened?”
Almost every night she was haunted by dreams of that night. It was getting to the point were she would fight herself to not go to sleep.
Her hair fell form her shoulder, she took a piece of it in her hand. Getting up she reached for a dagger that lay on her desk. Holding her hair tight she ran the dagger though it cutting it to almost shoulder length.
“I can’t keep thinking about this…I have to let it go…I have to let you go.” She finished cutting the rest of it. “You said you loved me!” She was so confused on why he betrayed her. She learned her lesson never trust a monster. Now that’s all he was to her. Just a monster, at least that is what she tried to tell herself.
That night Karin laid on her bed, thoughts about that night manifested in her head. She closed her eyes tight. Finally she gave up sitting up pulling the blanket over her shoulders. “Why can’t I just let it go!” she said in a soft tone though she wanted to scream it. Grunting she fell back ward her head slamming against the wooden frame. She held her head, “Son of a b***h!” She cursed. Karin got up rubbing her head were she had hit it. “That is going to leave a mark…”
She paced around her room for a few minutes. “It just doesn’t make sense,” she said softly. “…He wasn’t…wearing his armor.” Karin laid back down closing her eyes trying to go back threw the events of that night.
