Ramblings of a Disinterested Soul
Why on earth does anyone read these things? I mean, really. No one cares about your idiotic dog, or you, or your life.
Anime haters, which I can respect, need not read on. They can if they want to, though.

AnimePaper is being a b***h- so I figured I'd save my post here, for when it's working again.

The topic of the forum was "do you prefer male or female anime characters?"
Most of the replies were along the lines of "GIRLZ R T3H SUXX0R LOLZ."

As such, I came up with this post. It contains mature themes and coarse language, blah, blah, blah.

Most anime females are irritating, irrational shitpiles. Do you know why? So lonely guys can whack off to them in their basement. Strong-willed women don't make very good passive rape targets, do they? There are only a few really great female anime characters, but the greats can make quite an impression.

These include, but are not limited to...

Meryl Strife [Trigun]: Gun-toting, bad-tempered, highly-intelligent insurance lady. I'd be damned if you could find another woman who can go toe to toe with a world full of outlaws and always come out on top. She's got business sense, and she knows how to deal with Vash.

Ritsuko Akagi [Neon Genesis Evangelion]: High-ranking, dead-smart female scientist for NERV. She's extremely cold and manipulative, which is not something you see very often in an anime woman; Ritsuko, the female otaku salute you!

Faye Valentine [Cowboy Bebop]: I was considering not including her, for her interesting style of dress, but aside from that, Faye's got everything a kick-a** woman needs-- skills with a gun, a forked tongue, and a knack for gambling. Plus, who else do you know who can push Spike around and get away with it?

Edward [Cowboy Bebop]: I don't think I need to say much here-- everyone must love Edward. It's the law.

Lavie [Last Exile]: I only saw the first couple of episodes of Last Exile, but Lavie's real world skillset and vicarious appetite-- for adventure and for food-- adds her to this list. I'm really hoping to see more of this series.

San [Princess Mononoke]: She's a wolf-girl with an animal mentality and a cold disregard for everything human. It's not often that the woman does most of the fighting, but San does quite well, protecting her forest and starting raids on the twon nearby.

Utena [Revolutionary Girl Utena]: Lesbian with sword skills, who dresses like a man. Come on, what more can you ask for?

A lot of male anime characters are interesting, and quite entertaining to watch, but there are a wealth of female anime gems, if you look hard enough. Feminists are a market that anime directors are beginning to tap into, somewhat. Perhaps not today, perhaps not tomorrow, but maybe one day we can be proud to show our children anime with strong women in it. Until then, we'll just have to continue protesting cheesy harem and ecchi shows, and continue buying anime worth watching.
