My first poem on here yay! Oh yeah and the 11 years thing is 11 years of walking.....

11 Years

I'm alone, I'm alone, I'm alone...
This is now shown.
My life is over, my life is gone.
11 years, that isn't long.
11 years of joy,
11 years with my 'toy'.
Perhaps it is long, perhaps to you
But to me, it isn't, this is true.
11 years.
The dread nears
Which each doctors visit,
I am told the same.
My chances are slim and far,
I won't even be able to drive a real car.
But that doesn't matter.
What do you think,
Do you like your life?
Or is it like being stabbed with a knife?
Do you realize your gifts?
Not needing such things as wheelchair lifts.
No need for the meds
All your memories left ina shed.
11 years.
I have said this before,
11 simple years.
How can this be,
I was good, I was healthy.
Well, healthy as I could be.
A simple ache, a simple plea.
I suppose it was my fault, for the surgery.
I could have held out, ignored the pain.
But then again, there would be nothing to gain.
If I hadn't gone through it,
I may not be where I sit.
I probably couldn't have the friends I have today.
We will be friends, no matter what comes our way.
Though I can't help wondering,
What would have happened, if I had waited?
WOuld I have the same friends, would I still be hated?
Just a year, maybe two, longer.
I could have been walking, not in this chair.
Perhaps things could have changed,
This I cannot tell.
Though why bother thinking?
I know God has a plan for me.
He has one for everyone, whether it's a she or he.
I know why I chose it then, why I chose it just after 11 years.
I chose it because He wanted me to, I ignored my fears.
It is His choice on my destiny,
My life is in His hands.
Though I still can't help but think,
What are His plans for me?
Perhaps things will change for me,
After all, it was only 11 years.
