Well, I semi-tried seeing what was up with Sami. Lol, I know, bad idea. That was a bust, obviously. But I could never be with her again anyway, after what she did. So that doesn't really bother me TOO much... But... with Melanie... *sigh* it's apparent that I never had a chance with her in the first place. I'm actually very foolish for trying, now that I think about it. I've decided me and "love" is almost a lost cause. I'd like for that to be false but... well, yeah.
I'm having a hard time believeing I actually tried to get back with Melanie. I just ended up embaressing myself in front of her and pretty much everyone else I know. And what's sad is I really tried getting back with her too... Bleh...
On a seperate note; I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have many hours at my current job. Here's the story as to why I believe this..
I work at GameStop. One of if not the largest Video Game retailers worldwide. Most of everything I can and cannot do are corporate decisions. Well, the new Nintendo system (Nintendo Wii) had a huge debut on November 19th and it was an extremely hot item for the holidays. It's STILL practically impossible to aquire yourself one. Anywho, we had found out when we were getting a shipment of them and when we could sell them a week in advance. (Every time before that week we would get them in quite randomly, besides of course it's debut.) The problem lies in the fact that nobody could reserve themselves one and we were forbidden to inform anyone of our knowledge of them; the threat of immediate termination was more than common that week. I was well aware of the situation and I had followed the rules quite diligently (much to my distaste, there were many people who were/are regular customers in which were very upset that we told them nothing, even though we knew.) BUT, many other stores were telling EVERYONE about the situation. Frankly, irritating is an under-statement. We had constant calls asking if we knew information that we weren't allowed to share. If we simply said "I can't disclose that information" they'd know it was true. So our only option at this point was to say "We have no idea, other stores have nothing to do with our shipments". This is true in a sense BUT we knew we were getting the Wii and we knew when. Anyway, I digress.
We got the Wii's in Saturday and they weren't to be touched until Sunday morning. I worked both days, Saturday night and Sunday morning. (I'm one of the more experienced workers so I work busy days.) All day I was lying to people, telling them I "had no idea" about anything. So I already felt bad. But (Here's the point of the story. I know, I know, finally) one customer came in that I am well aquainted with. She's quite the regular and me and her have long Zelda-related discussions practically all the time. We'd became friends on a calling-each-other basis. Except this time she had came in with her apparent lover/boyfriend/whatever. This didn't bother me, why should I care? I'm certainly not hitting on a 30+ year old lady with two kids. She asked me about the Wii's, naturally, and I was forced to tell her what I told everyone else. "Sorry, we really have no idea." Then her boyfriend comments, "That's stupid, everyone else says ya'll gettin' dem tomorrow." I am indeed angry at his tone with me, but I calmly tell him "I guess we are the odd man out." Anyway, my friend continued looking around for games at her own leisure; her boyfriend skulking about angrily. She finally comes up to the register with two games for the Nintendo Gamecube. Games I have played and own. She asks me "Which one of these is better? I really can't choose." (For fellow Nintendo fans, the games were The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Metroid Prime) A bit perplexed (I love both of those games) I wasn't quite sure what to tell her. So I decided to tell her how each game was, how they were different from the others in the series, etc. Now, in her boyfriend's defense, I was indeed talking for quite a bit of time. But she was engaged in the conversation just as much as I was. Well, as you probably assumed, he was getting quite impatient with us. Eventually he say's to me "Why you gotta talk her to death? Just hurry up and tell her which one's better." Shocked at this rude behavior, I simply look at him and hold my tounge. My manager glances over and appears to come to my aid, but after seeing the look on my face he decides to wait. To break the silence, she decides she'll buy both of them and return one if it dissapoints. The man sighs heavily again, I start getting her games out and starting the transaction. While I'm working, she asks me "Do you guys know when you're getting Playstation 3?" heer games in my hand, I look up and say "Actually we have some in now." She gives the slight giggle all Nintendo fans give after hearing this news. Then, once again, the man chimes in with his two-cents. "Why ya'll got 'dem but you aint' got no Wii's? Dat's some old dumb sh--!" He says this loudly and angrily, children are all over the busy and rather small store. I'm more than slightly irritated with his behavior at this point. I say to him in a stern tone "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to watch your language or else leave my store." He loses his temper and yells back at me, "What you gonna do if I don't leave?" I reply to him quietly, yet clearly, "I'd have to call the police." Apparently I hit the last nerve of his, as he snapped back, (exact quote, by the way) "Ni--a I don't give a f--k!" Now, I'm just plain mad. Seriously.
This is the first thing that makes me thing I'll have aLOT less hours.
I walk from behind the counter. I walk past him to the front of the store. The entire store is silent. I open the door, turn around and say, "Come on!" Making the hand gesture and all. I walk outside and wait for him. He doesn't show up. I walk back inside, motion to him again, and loudly yell, "Come on!!" I walk back outside to the parking lot. I stand there and cross my arms, waiting for him to come out. He finally did and just stared at me. I looked him in the eye and asked "Is there a problem, now?!" The man continues to stare, but he decides to just walk to his car. He gets into the car and I just walk into the store. The entire store stares at me, every customer, every employee, every manager. I swear, the demo-systems seemed to stop and stare at me. I went to the back and drank a Sunkist then went back to work. No one said anything to me about it, they barely spoke to me at all for quite a few hours. I was also the first to clock out that night. It wouldn't hurt so bad if I could still be aquainted with my friend. The next day she asked about the Wii, we told her that they came and left quickly, and she simply walked out of the store. Not an extra word to me, but I did get a slightly reassuring smile. I called her once and got no response. I left a message apologizing for what happened (Although I feel I did nothing wrong). Well, she never called me back and frankly I'm embaressed to continue calling her when it's apparent that friendship is over.
That's the end of that story, and I didn't intend for it to be that long, so I promise this one will be short and sweet.
About a week ago I was working till close again. There was 30 minutes until the store closed and we had quite a few customers still. Some of them were together, young guys. Couldn't be older than me, about 18 or 19. Anywho, they were loud and cursing. I asked them "Hey guys, watch the language." They didn't answer, but they hushed up. I payed it no mind. Well, later they got pretty loud and wild once again, knocking things over and speaking more profound than before. I warned them a second time. "Hey guys, come on, language." One of them gets pretty angry. He sarcastically says "Yes sir, any more demands?" Irritated, I reply "Well if you insist on getting smart I can demand you leave." He didn't seem to expect me to snap back apparently, and he replies to me with "F--k you!" It was New Year's Eve. I'm mad. I had a terrible month as ALWAYS and I had to work late on a holiday AND a Sunday. Now, this doesn't justify my reply, but I immediatly snapped back with "F--k you too!" They storm out of the store and once again, the entire store goes silent. All of a sudden a rock slams against the glass, breaking it. I storm outside as the guys bolt to their car. They get in and screech off, but not before I pick up the rock and chuck it at their car. Breaking their back window I was satisfied. But I had to stay there VERY late for the police report and the scolding and blah blah blah.
The point to these stories was I'm going to have ALOT less hours at work. I doubt they'll fire me because they like me alot and I've been there awhile. BUT I'm pretty sure everyone there is frightened of me. So I'm probably going to just quit and look elsewhere for work... which sucks because I really like the job... Is that failing or quitting? And with Melanie? Is that failing or quitting? And with my friend whom I lost thanks to her boyfriend whom I wish to... Grrr... Is that failing or quitting?
