Crazy Ramblings of a Confused Pansexual I still like to use Gaia but now it's really just a place I can come to vent out my own s**t. It's a nice outlet and helps me to read it out to work through treatments. I doubt anyone else would read these

The Mask
A theoretical story,

She had always kept a happy face and hid her problems. Kept them deep down with a fear she would be hated for her thoughts. She would go out of her way to make someone else's day, without a thing in return. This kept up for years and she would continue to ignore her own problems to take care of everyone else's...with no one sharing a glance back her way. She seemed happy and perfectly fine to the world. She gave her all until she couldn't continue to do so. She hid all of her issues behind the mask she created. Her brown eyes faded to red, brunette hair faded to white. She grew a tough exterior and locked her true self away, out of sight.

She's been battling with depression for too many years and her strong mask began cracking at the seams. Her facade she had created was collapsing in front of her eyes and she began shutting the world out. The people she gave everything to, took her everything and left her. Soon, she became angry at the drop of a pin and shattered the illusion of the good person she wanted to be. She could no longer be the change she wanted to see in the world. The world had beaten her down to a bloody pulp and she was about to give in. She stares into the mirror, eyes stained red from crying. The corner of her lip twitches and her cheek cracks up to her ears. She grabs her cheek and jumps backwards from the mirror. Shaking.

A hand reaches out and caresses her cheek, while another grabs her hand. Her eyes too blurry to see clearly. The hands make her feel warm as they guide her to a variety of options. "I'm here for you" She hears as she takes the option of speaking to a professional. She is diagnosed with severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.. All from what she believed was just a violent attack from the past. However, she would soon learn that was just the tip of the iceberg she was about to climb.

Weeks go by and she is slowly healing from the trauma but her mask still remains. Her therapist knows there is something more. She presses the girl for information. She can't remember and is convinced this is the ultimate reason for why she's like this. Her mask cracks more with a fake smile. Her therapist is not convinced.

Another month goes by...her mask cracks more

And another... drops of her mask on the floor

"I'm not getting better. It's not working." She begins to push away again. The hands guide her to the mirror and show her the mask is missing much more. She sees her hair fading to brown in streaks. A piece of the mask falls into the sink. She sees one of her brown eyes.

Her eyes widen and her heart sinks into her stomach. All of the memories she has repressed had come back. Her mask drops off her face and shatters into the sink. She falls to the floor, screaming. "NO. NO. NO." She grabs her head and began pulling her hair in a panic, just screaming. "******** THIS I DON'T WANT THIS" That hand is back but arms are attached and they're hugging her tightly. Almost like they were begging her to stay and keep up the treatment. She cries for 10 days straight. Never leaving the arms that held her so tightly. Her PTSD treatment changes their target. Now it was her childhood she needed to unpack.

A month goes by... She cuts ties with toxic friends.

And Another... She cuts ties with her mother.

She continues to remember trauma she was faced in an abusive household. She takes it day by day and learns to appreciate the smaller things. She tries to rediscover who she once was. She begins to rebel and do what she wants and not what other people want her to do. She learns to speak her mind and defend herself. She learns not to be taken advantage of. She begins to appreciate seeing who she is. The arms that once held her so close form into the person she keeps closest to her. More arms form and she develops concrete friendships. She builds her own family. She begins to accept herself.

Several more months go by....

She is able to genuinely smile.

She learns to like herself just a bit more day by day.

But this is all theoretical right?

Not like anyone will ever read this~ Just here to vent at this point. dramallama
