My Life As I Present It (:
Writing, venting, escapism.
Life is a giant onion
Feeling: Okay
Listening to: Lilypichu - Sick

I'm sure we can agree that everyone goes through hard times at some point. What someone vs. another person constitutes as "hard" is relative, but, there is no denying it-- whatever hardships anyone might face, there is always, always someone else who has or had it worse.

This fact of life is supposed to serve as a reassurance. It's supposed to mean that if they can deal with their issues, you can deal with your own. Sometimes life isn't easy. Sometimes life isn't fair. But life isn't about what's easy or fair. It's about the decisions you make and how you choose to live by them.

The irony is that, for some people, this only serves to make them feel worse. Because knowing that there's someone else out there who has hardships greater than your own, makes life seem like an a*****e. Life is funny like that, whether or not you laugh about it. How people choose to live their lives can heavily depend on how they interpret those lives. It reminds us of Shrek and his onion, and then we might think to ourselves, "Life is a giant onion". Maybe you like onions. Maybe you don't.

Still onions are good for you, and I sure as hell know that. Despite what certain cult classics of the monster food variety have tried to convince people of in the past, onions aren't out to get anyone. They're just onions. They have layers. They can flavor your food and they can make you cry.

And you just deal with it.

Speaking about onions and life:
"If you have ever peeled an onion, then you know that the first thin, paper layer reveals another thin, papery layer, and that layer reveals another, and another, and before you know it, you have hundreds of layers all over the kitchen table and thousands of tears in your eyes, sorry that you have ever started peeling in the first place and wishing that you had left the onion alone to wither away on the shelf of the pantry while you went on with your life, even if that meant never enjoying the complicated and overwhelming taste of this strange and bitter vegetable."
Have a guess on where this might be from? 3nodding
Nice ranting btw, I always remind myself of this fact too.
