Feeling: Offended
Listening to: Vivaldi - Four Seasons (Winter)
So, earlier today while playing zOmg!, there was this one guy, that was spamming offensive comments to gay/lesbian people. I'm not even gay, but hell that really pissed me off. And then Straight Pride! he shouts.
Straight Pride?
For what reason should I have "Straight Pride"? Straight people don't get criticized for loving the ones they love or are attracted to. Straight people don't have to tell their parents, only to have them shudder or laugh and say "Oh, it's just a phase." Straight people aren't fighting constantly just to marry the one they love. When a straight couple kisses or holds hands in public, no one double takes-- it's the "norm". It's what's okay to them.
No. Gay pride isn't just for celebrations or protests, it shows support to those who struggle with the fact that they're "different". It shows in numbers that just because you're different, it doesn't mean you have to hide away.
So, I don't care about straight pride. Sure I myself am straight, but that's not really an achievement or anything. I'm down for equality, and I know how it feels to be alienated. Yeah, I am from abroad. One of my own close friends had trouble telling me he was gay because he didn't know what I would think. I get it, it's a hell of a society. Straight people aren't being suppressed and looked down on for something they can't control. I guess you could say, if you're straight you're lucky. At least you can marry the one you love without having constant judgement around you.
