RE:
Of water and fire pt 1
User ImageI was the princess of slightly large kingdom, wrapped up in itself. It was severed from the rest of the world, yet no one but the King and Queen knew why. They grew their own crops, animals, and lifestyles.
As ordinary as it seems, the people of the city were slightly different. They were an elf race. Some people were born normal, yet some with a special calling. Some were made to fight, others were born with a magical strength.
I was one of those. Between my mother, father, and younger sister, I was the only one in the whole family history to gain such a blessing.
I grew up like any princess, but refuse to be pampered. I was more adventurous and curious with things, which lead to me being in trouble most of my younger days.
I am 20 now. I learned to cherish my glorious days. But a day like no other had come, and here was the story behind it.
---
I could remember my younger sister and I browsing the open market. Habachi was always our favorite place to go. We'd both order fried rice, with chicken and deer meet cooked with. A specialty sauce was made, and always given to us for free. We sat down to eat, gazing at the lower city. It was only hours past sunrise, yet the sun wasn't at mid sky. We wondered about the day, and what our mother and father were talking and signing that day.
We finished eating, and decided to play along with some of the younger children in the city. It lead for hours before we had noticed the time. We said our goodbyes and scurried off.
Between the lower city and the castle was a small aqueduct, formed with pipes and old stone that originated from when the city was born. We were careful, though, yet excitable when it came to this area. It lead to secret entrances and hallways around and below the city. As far as we knew, we were the only ones to ever realize these. Well, us and Eyron.
Eyron is a boy, well man, that I had known since my childhood. His parents were killed in an accident, but I'd rather not get into details. He, too, was gifted to fight. Unlike others, he was able to transfer the energies around him into his special made blades, which were passed from his father to him. When he was 18, myself being 16, my parents decided to have us wed on my twenty first birthday. Since then, the friendship was awkward. Even though everyone can see the feelings we share for each other, we would both deny it.
Anyway, Eyron had followed us to the aqueducts. He finally spoke up.
"What are the lovely princesses doing today?" He spoke loudly to make sure we could here him.
I turned around and replied, " We're getting into trouble, can't you tell?"
Both my younger sister and I snickered as he came closer to us, helping us off onto the lower platforms. My younger sister never spoke around him. I was never sure why. Maybe she liked him? Who knows?
"Ah, trouble finds you, not you it, Princess Amarah." Eyron smiled gently. He knew to be formal with her around others, even though he'd hear her bicker about it later. He began to speak, but hushed himself. Between the slight drips of water, a scratching noise was hear, as well as beeping and footprints. He was on edge, not sure of what was happening. His arm went out for my sister and I to back up. I carefully moved my sister in back of me, and looked over Eyron's shoulder. I couldn't see anything, or anyone. He looked around, confused, yet sharp. He soon let his guard done, the beeping and strange noises at a non existent level at this point.
I whispered to him, "What is it?"
Eyron replied, "I want to say, but I'm not sure. I..." He paused, then continued in a more quiet tone. "I want you both to go back to the castle, immediately."
I was surprised. Danger, I knew it was danger that was to come. I had never seen him so serious, and on edge about something.
I turned around and started to push my sister to move, but she looked back at me.
"Sister?"
"Yes?"
"What is that clanking noise?"
I couldn't believe neither of us heard that before. Here were the pipes, clanking together above us. We all looked up.
A slip second later, the main pipe had split from it's seal, gushing out water. Eyron had grabbed hold onto the siding pipes that were still intact. I grabbed my sister by her clothes, and pulled her to me, using my own magic to push the water around us. I held with my magic tight, and looked up to see Eyron maneuvering with the main pipe. Even though it took minutes, he had stopped the water for the most part. I let down my shield from the water, and shushed my sister, letting her know everything was okay. It wasn't.
We could hear the sirens of the city, the warning sirens, whine loudly throughout the city. Eyron took my hand, and I my sister's, as we can to see what this was about.
Apparently, the King and Queen were noted by someone that we had broke it intentionally. We were the cause of the weeks water supply to drop drastically. We heard of this news, while standing in the crowd. We moved our way closer to our throne area, not sure about who had told them this or where it came from to begin with. After meeting up with our parents, we were yelled and cursed at. They demanded explanations.
We explained, or more, Eyron explained. My sister and I were told to leave the room, while they spoke to him alone.
I turned to my sister. "Sister of mine," I said, "This was an accident. I'm not sure how to convince them of anything."
"But, what about what Eyron had seen?" She replied.
"I'm sure he's the one getting in trouble right now... The most we can do is to go back and find any clues to leave us innocent."
She nodded in agreement, and we both sat off to find any evidence.
I was unknown of what was said to Eyron in that room, or what Eyron had said to my parents. All I knew was we needed to prove ourselves, and figure out what had started this mess.
