Okonomiyaki
Warning! My version of okonomiyaki is very, very unauthentic, with no nagaimo whatsoever, mainly because I'm not too sure of which type of yam it actually is, and we rarely even cook yam, buying it just for some grated 120 grams seems like a waste.
I could try to sub with grated potatoes... when I've time, and also potatoes. Or those packaged ones when I can find them. I also found okonomiyaki sauce at a Daiso outlet, for only 5 dollars! Must get a bottle when I finish up the tonkatsu sauce.
Store bought ingredients, from left, katsuobushi, shredded nori, aonori, and bottled tonkatsu sauce.
Batter, just flour, about 140g, 2 eggs, salt, and a splash of water.
Tenkasu, frying.
Cabbage, carrots, onions, all chopped, or sliced up accordingly.
First layer of cabbage batter.
Ham slice added. I usually top cheese on the ham, but we ran out of cheese that day. We're always running out of cheese...
Layered with more batter.
Flipped.
How it looks in a pan.
Spread with mayonnaise, and then drizzled with sauce.
Sprinkled with aonori.
Plus katsuobushi, and nori shreds.
Random wedge shot.
Another random shot. 4laugh
Recipe makes about 7 or 8 medium-ish okonomiyakis. These are even tastier when bacon is used. Next up, Hiroshima style...?
