Fayte Introduction
Sitting by the edge of the stream, she stared out into the waters smiling and humming to herself. A delicate smile always found itself light on her lips whether she was alone or not. She was perfectly content with herself and the world around her, she always had been. She seemed to glow as the sunlight reflected off of her white shimmering hair and dazzled her sliver eyes with warmth and life. She reached out and placed her fingers in the water swirling them absentmindedly in the coolness of it. She perfered to be alone, things were always so quiet and peaceful, though she never did mind having company. It was a calm day in the village, everyone seemed to be taking things slow as happened from time to time on the warmer days.

A sudden rush of wind and slight tapping sound on the rocks behind her told her that she had a visitor. She turned her head to find a hawk only a few feet away, taking a stride or two closer to her he let out a soft cooing noise.

”Would you like me to sing for you again, Arrow?” she asked softly as the hawk came to be level with her. He stopped and looked at her unblinkingly through his tawny eye, he too felt the slowness of the day. Her lips curved into a true smile and she began to sing softly to her friend. He was the only one who had ever heard her sing and demanded it of her frequently, she always obliged.

Arrow relaxed as she sang, closing his eyes at the calm, soothing sound of the song of flight. It seemed like an eternity as she sat and sang and stroked Arrow’s back lightly. Arrow was the only true friend she had, but that was enough for her.

”Fayte, “ called a voice from inside the house, penetrating her perfect calm. It was her mother. “Could you bring me a pail of water from the stream?”

”Right away, mother.” she called. Arrow became disgruntled at the more shrill sound of Fayte’s mother’s voice. Though her voice wasn’t truly shrill, it seemed that way when compared to Fayte’s own quiet, soothing tongue.

She fetched the pail from beside the back door, filling it with the cool water of the stream, and hurried it inside.
