Interesting sightings around Gaia and other sites I poke into
Gaia Community Discussion review
It's come to my attention that there are a number of people who exist within a certain forum called Gaia Community Discussion that don't familiarize themselves with the forum rules. I know this is a problem for many forums within Gaia, but I find that it's more obvious here than in most other forums.

In truth, it's nothing to laugh at, but I laugh anyway- as depressing at it may seem. This forum is composed of self-proclaimed "rule abiders and good people who don't cause trouble", but the people within the GCD are so backwards. XD

For instance, there have been countless people who are completely ignorant of the "repeat threads are allowed, so long as it's not identical to another thread" rule in the Gaia Community Discussion forum.

Now, I believe that each person's repeat thread is different, as there could be some important point that one user adds in order to conjure discussion in his thread that may have been completely forgotten and left out of another repeat thread. But clearly, the regulars of the GCD think otherwise and believe that all repeat threads are taboo and should be attacked with holy water and grenades.

You're basically reiterating what someone else is already saying, so why not post in their thread?

Quote:
I just want to grab their heads, slam it against their computer screen and yell, "LOOK THERE ARE 100 THREADS HERE, DO YOU NOT SEE THAT!?". stressed

I'm guessing that those people who make new threads think that there personal option is so great that it warrants a new thread. Sadly about 95% of the time there is another thread just like it. I get it, you hate/love the new feature... but couldn't you add your views to someone elses hate/love thread? gonk

People take 3 ******** seconds too look at the GCD page, and realize that your BAW/RANT thread is not special.

Quote:
I'm guessing that they make their own thread because they're too lazy to browse all the other hundreds of forums to make sure their topic hasn't been taken yet.

Quote:
Because the 100 other threads just aren't rant-y and bawwwww-y enough!

Seriously, I don't know, maybe it's tunnel vision? They are SO motivated to post they're unable
to read more than the sticky titles?

Quote:
I don't think they read the Sticky titles, either, or people wouldn't spam in misplaced threads.

Quote:
I always thought that posting in an already open thread is a better way of being heard. So in my mind it's counter productive to post a repeat because instead of getting heard all people do is say "there is already a thread about this," or don't even look at your thread because there are a slew like it.

Now this is a sensible post that I adore within the GCD, from a user who has clearly looked over the ruled of that forum.

I don't get worked up over this sort of thing. I could care less if someone makes a repeat thread, because there's no rules against it. If I'm bored, I move somewhere else on Gaia instead of making a big to do about how so and so should of just posted in the original.

What cracks me up, is the majority who hate them act like they are the mature ones, but they're the ones getting so annoyed over virtual space. I say take a chill pill, learn that it's not the end of the world, and find something better to do.

Alongside that, going back to the 5th quote that a user posted in a GCD forum about spamming in misplaced threads:

Quote:
I don't think they read the Sticky titles, either, or people wouldn't spam in misplaced threads.

I just have to sigh and shake my head at people like this, to tell the truth. Steering off topic a little about the repeat thread subject, the mess of misplaced threads that drop into the GCD from time to time are frequently bombarded with spam in the form of "directional assistance"- but not from the newcomers of said forum, mind you, it's oft from the regulars there who deem it their right to "mini-mod" another's thread if they find it unacceptable within the GCD, when there are plenty of certified moderators stationed within the forum to handle matters themselves, if users within, simply pounded the "Report" button, instead of further inflating their massive egos by thinking they're doing all the good in the world by going in someone's thread and spamming "wrong forum. Move it to *insert forum name here*"

GCD.

Because backseat modding is cruise control for cool.

A comment from one Gaian further stresses my point on the matter (but at the same time holds hypocrisy concerning the number of moderators posted within the GCD. Fact: There are numerous, hard-working moderators and forum assistants within the GCD) :

Quote:
There's only really one mod that gives a damn about ED Main so we that's why the ED stereotype of us being elitist assholes is true. Because we end up having for the most part, self-moderate our own forum and point people to the stickies and rules. That's partly why we're all so jaded and rude, because we have had less moderator support (except MP, he's awesome and speedy!) over time, but more trolls.

Quote:
If I'm in the mood I sometimes play the mod and say what is the mistake in the most polite way I can (And only if it was not said before)

While the following quote from more GCD-ers further shows the elitism within the forum.

Quote:
You're forgetting that GCD is a special forum

Quote:
When someone sees someone else that doesnt post frequently, or when someone says they're from the GD and everyone in the GCD cringes. etc. etc. Judging users by the forums they inhabit.

Regulars who are always so quick to claim that "their GCD is the better forum amongst the other forum filth" and are outstanding Gaians. It's this kind of attitude they've deluded themselves with that makes me want to smack each and everyone who thinks this way in the face with one of Liam's barbells.

In my opinion, it's pure elitist hypocrites and nothing more within the GCD- yet one more thing they claim to be devoid of. It is all this that could have a negative effect on the people who frequent the GCD yet don't post often, or at all, such as my fellow lurkers.

Quote:
I venture into the GCD, but I tend to lurk most often. People can get so mean here! sweatdrop Cause I ain't no regular! - whiny-
