Contest Entries 61 through to 75
I found out about your awesome contest on Buki's profile (I stalk my favourite E.I. artists xd ) and I thought I'd give this contest a shot. I'll submit all three of my entries at the same time, since I made a bit of a storyline with them. So, here goes!
A handsome red-headed British gentleman inherits a fortune in one of the colonies and sets sail to look over his new properties. The local gentry is giving a ball and our young man is invited. Masked and a stranger to everybody, he suddenly catches himself staring at a planter's daughter, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. It's love and rose petals in the air as our two young love birds meet, kiss, and promise to marry each other.
Unfortunately, young lady's father is of a different opinion. He hopes to marry his child to an even wealthier man. One night, Dandy hears a loud bang, and before he know it, he is hit over the head with a blunt object and dragged off into the darkness. A month later he is a slave on a sugar cane plantation on an island he never heard of. The governor, a man who bought him, is a harsh, unforgiving man and Dandy soon finds himself in the midst of a slave revolt. The freed captives steal a ship and elect Dandy, the only man who knows how to read and navigate, a captain. They have few options open to them and thus are forced to become pirates.
Dandy is still in love and still remembers his island sweetheart. He restrains the men who follow them from harming the citizens in the coastal towns they raid, but his reputation for success precedes him and soon he becomes Empire's most wanted. Life seems hopeless and there is no way of knowing when it will end, yet, one day it all changes. Dandy and his pirates are issued an unexpected pardon. When Dandy enquires about how something so unbelievable could have happened, all he is told that a young diplomat from the colonies took great trouble to lobby on his behalf. Dandy travels back to England to seek out that man and than him, but when the doors of a large mansion open to him, instead of a dry, wiry statesman he expected, he sees...
