Thats Right , no arguing about xianities validity here . I , Thy_Mushroom , the unofficial villian of gaia ed has started a thread thats actually not dedicated to flaming for once !Mainly because this is a survey Im taking for another site where I am actually somewhat serious . So please, honest answers only. As a master of satire I can smell satire from a mile away and bogus posts will be ignored.
Also , I must ask then anyone under the age of 20 to not participate . This is because the entire reason for this is to see the response of an average teenager and gaia M/R is possibly the best forum for this.
NOTE: I know that this could be long . Feel free to only answer one or two . anything helps .
First question: How did you become a christian ? Did your parents raise you into it or did you find the bible yourself ?
2) If you found christianity yourself, what was your main reason to convert ? Was it logical or did you feel a part of yourself telling you it was true ?
3) what was your parents response when you told them you were christian ?
4) Have you read the bible ? The entire thing ? IMPORTANT: If you read the entire bible did you read it before or after you found your life in christ ?
5) Please honestly state whether or not you take the following books more then 90% literally : James , genesis , Dueteronomy , Gospel of mark , Gospel of Jhon , Romans , and revelations .
6) What are your thoughts on evolution ? Should it be taught next to intelligent design in the same class ?
7) Am I and all other atheists going to hell ? Is hell a place of eternal torment , purgatory , or nonexistance ?
8 ) IS the christian moral system as taught by Jesus christ unquestionably superior to all other moral systems ?
9 ) Finally , and most important . Please think about this: Is there any possible way in your mind you can think of that may result in your deconversion ? In other words , is their an event that could possibly "Disprove" the religion and if so what event is that ?
Also , please discuss why you think/do not think that answers to this given help to display christianities "true colors" . Remember: this is ED .
-this post is not sarcastic in any way- Just clarifying my sig disclaimer .

Hah I wanted to start a thread much like yours too...except it's something where I would ask EVERYONE how they found their religion and how true is that religion to them in everyday life..etc. But w/e, I'll answer yours first XP
1) I first became a Christian 5 years ago upon moving to America. Back then I had a polythestic view and was like "Hey, another way to Salvation, cool, w/e, it's all the same to me" But I did realize that Christianity was a lot more serious and appealing so I abandoned my polytheistic view and joined Christianity
2) explained in #1...the main reason I wanted to be a Christian, at first, was so that I'd be well liked. You know one of those things that Christians are "accused of" is to go to church to hang out, right? Well that's what I did in the beginning XD
Later I found that Christianity is much more meaningful (Full of love and spirituality, something clicked) than people who goes there. So now instead of passing notes to friends in Church cuz we're bored, I take notes instead :3
3) My mom has always been raised Catholic...but living in Taiwan and under the influence of polytheism she then turned Buddhist for a good while. When we came to America, though, she turned back to Christianity. So she was happy that I wanted Christianity too, I suppose.
4) I have NOT read the entire thing...I think i started in Genesis and then stopped somewhere in Deuteronomy or Numbers. I do say that I know most of the major stories and prophets, though...But in no way am I saying that my Chrisitian view is complete.
5) I think for the most part I take most of the books of the Bible as a story or history lesson...I don't take many of them literally. I do take them SERIOUSLY, though, if that helps XD I also have a passion for Revelation, but in no way should it be taken literally
6) I definitely think that Creationism should also be taught. Maybe not as a scientific course, but should be an alternative to courses that teaches evolution. So say that my Biology class teaches Evolution (which it does, by the way) I think that I should also be able to take another class that teaches Creationism instead, but also earns me scientific credit somehow.
After all, I don't believe in Evolution yet I HAVE to take it for science credit, yet the Evolutionists can go and take it without complaints, somewhat unfair to me.
7) Um, that I will not say. I was not born for the purpose of judging for God. All judgements are to be made by God, and whatever his judgements are, I do not speak for Him and they ARE final. So, yea, I refuse to answer ^^||
cool They are probably ideal, but I often find myself unaccepting of them. In this case I speak for myself, and I say that while Jesus is probably 100% correct and just, I find it hard to believe and that's something that I have to overcome for myself.
9) Hrm...anyway to disprove Christianity and God...would probably be God coming down and telling me that "Ha, sorry, I'm actually not real and this is all part of the evil scheme of Xenu/The Matrix/someothergod(s)!"
Hopefully that will never happen xd
Wow, what a long post ^^|| hope this helps ya in w/e you're doing
O and also
AHA, I KNEW IT
I TOTALLY KNEW THAT ANAYAMIREI (sp?) WAS CHRISTIAN.
Actually, not really. She sounded a lot Calida, both of them are so polite and intellectual.
Calida and AnayamiRei are my heroines 3nodding xd
