< That's just awesome, > Flan said dryly. [1] < Magical beings are just stupid sometimes. >

"What do you mean?" n** asked, eying Flan.

< Let me rephrase, > Flan replied. < Magical beings who do not have an ounce of human in them are just stupid sometimes. >

"Okay," n** said, "I'm still not following."

< Humans are largely underestimated in the magical world, > Flan explained. < Even if they have some magic in them, they're still mostly dismissed as nothing special except by a rare few such as Dragon's family. >

"With my human blood from my father's side," Xink said, "the twins, n**'s former humanity, and you; you are expecting us to be able to use our human side to escape from a god's prison?"

< Yep, > Flan replied. Kneeling next to Nissa's short circuited android body, Flan flipped open a hidden compartment in the android's side and removed a small black bag. < Xink, will you please carry Mrs. Roboto? Varda, Varden, stay near Xink. Birdy [2], will you please cast a spell on all of us that will allow us to move and breathe underwater like we were on the surface? Little Kahuna [3], I need your eyes staring at the lock on the door. Mosquito, I'll need you in your tiger form. >

"What are you going to do?" n** asked before transforming into her white tiger form.

< Pick the lock, > Flan replied simply.

"But it's protected by magic," Nate said stepping forward next to Flan and looking at the spot she indicated. As Ette cast a wordless spell, Nate said, "Lock picking is rather useless against magical locks."

< Ye of little faith, > Flan said, kneeling in front of the lock. Looking through Nate's eyes, Flan picked the lock within seconds. [4] Before opening the door, she asked, < Ready boys and girls? >

"Ready," came six replies. n** flicked her tail and tensed her muscles.

< Here we go then, > Flan said, pocketing her black bag and opening the door.

Don't Piss off the Mermaid, 6

A split second after she threw the ice spear, Alachia brought her free hand out from behind her and shot a ball of blue fire at Poseidon.

Having dodged the spear, Poseidon was not ready for the ball of blue fire. When it slammed into his shoulder, Poseidon yelled. "You're a water elemental! How is it you're using fire?!"

"That and earth," Alachia said, easily ripping up a chunk of Poseidon's floor and throwing it at him, "wind--" a strange gust of wind buffeted the god to where he had to protect his face, "--light--" all the lights in the castle went so bright that Poseidon was temporarily blinded, "-- and darkness--" a bubble of black space appeared over Poseidon's burnt shoulder, when it dissappated, it removed a chunk of the god's uninjured shoulder, "--were all taught to me by Rhonabwy's brothers and sisters!"

"But how?!" Poseidon demanded.

"In the dragon world, if a god takes a mortal for a spouse, the mortal becomes a god!" Alachia said, increasing her size until she was twenty feet tall. "And due to this ability, it is taught how to kill a god!"

"Impossible!" Poseidon roared as Alachia reached for him.

"Nothing is impossible ducky," Alachia growled, wrapping her hand around Poseidon as he attempted to swim away. Using a combination of all the spells she knew, Alachia first dried Poseidon out and then turned him into a water resistant pile of dust in the palm of her hand. Raising her hand to mouth, Alachia said, "Now you will spend eternity as grains of sand on the ocean floor, my lord, never to trouble me or mine again."

With that, Alachia blew on the pile of dust and watched as it scattered in every direction. She knew that each individual piece was fully aware of what was happening to it.

As she shrunk down to her smaller size, Alachia felt a sharp pain at the bottom of her fin. Looking down, she saw that the bottom of her fin had been vaporized. Turning around in the water as she settled to the floor, she saw the person floating in the doorway. "Aww, ducky. It was you?"
