Talk about a freaking roller coaster of emotion. Wednesday night Sophia and I spent the night at my mother's to finally take her to the neurologist on Thursday; who told us kids get tremors all the time, and epilepsy shouldn't be a concern. However, because it runs in family history, she'd need an EEG just to be sure. He also noticed she can't glance to the left without turning her head; which is some kind of syndrome that may or may not be caused by a brain tumor. Fun fun MRI thrown our way. She had been running a fever this whole time so we took her to her pediatrician who said it's not a UTI {thank God} and it was just a virus. If she was still running a fever on Friday, take her back to them. I had no problem with this because I didn't want to take her to the hospital. I hate hospitals. At this point, it's debatable on whether or not I'm actually going to Metrocon and I've promised myself that if I didn't get to go, I'd use the $40 I got for my birthday on a couple cash cards for myself. Well, come 5 Friday night Soph was her usual self and running around the house, Grandma came to pick her up, which made her even more excited, and she was off which meant Mima took me to the convention center. I met Tork in the lobby of the Mariot and he helped me carry my stuff up to the room he'd paid for; where I met up with Tenma, Clay, and I think Ariel was there at the time too. Shadow was already working security at the game room door. The first thing I did was call Suki. Why? A few days before when her, Cam, and I were discussing Metro and I let them know I'd be $15 short of getting a weekend pass, they both swore to cover me. Well, when I called Suki, it turns out she'd been pissed off at Tork for not letting her mooch off the food people brought to his room {which by the way, was pretty much the only way for those of us who couldn't afford the $30 entry fee to get in to the room in the first place} and because she'd have to buy her own food for the weekend, she would not be able to cover me. Cam's name wasn't even brought up between us. When I relayed this information to the guys, upset I'd pretty much have to spend the entire weekend in the room missing everything worth going to that weekend, Tenma whipped out his wallet so quick I swear I saw movement lines come off it xD He gave me $20, showed me where registration was, I gave him his change, he and I picked up a "bible" and we went to the game room to meet up with Shadow. Before I go on there are a few things I'd like to elaborate on: Suki said she was in the same boat as me when she said she couldn't spare me the money. Wrong. She had a weekend pass, and a cosplay for that matter. Connies, especially those at Metrocon, let you mooch food off them. And I can't believe she didn't think I'd have brought her food at some point anyway. She's my best friend. I wouldn't have let her starve. At any rate, no one lets you borrow a weekend pass, and even if you did borrow it from someone, they wouldn't let you use it for the stuff worth going to Metrocon for {The vending room, the Chess Match, the rave, etc} So, different boat all together there. The second thing I'm elaborating on: the "bible" Tenma was working the Star Party at Metrocon which basically is you look in the "bible" at the page that tells you who's in the star party. You look for them at the convention and they give you different colored stars worth different amounts of points, based on whether or not you can pass certain tests they give you. Each test varies depending on what character you're getting stars from. At the Star Party on Sunday, the person with the most points from their stars get 2 free VIP passes to the next year's metrocon. Because Tenma worked there, he referred to the Metrocon Guide as the "bible" and we ended up putting on a show for the woman in charge of the table with them on it. They were free, but here's how the exchange went down: Tenma~ -picks up closest guide- Here's your bible Kitten~ Well, what if I don't want that particular bible? What if I wanted to grab on from the middle row just to be different? Tenma~ Then do that -puts the guide he'd picked up back on the table- Kitten~ I will -picks out a guide from the center of the table- Tenma~ Got your bible? Kitten~ Yep -nods and shows off bible before clinging it to her chest and petting it- Tenma~ Good. Now get out If you'd heard the tones we were using on each other, you'd almost be in tears; much like the woman behind the table had been. After that, I hung out with Shadow while he did security. It was sort of amusing. All he had to do was sit there and make sure no one entered the room without some kind of pass, whether it was a day pass, a VIP pass, a weekend pass, etc. Our friend Josh Gomez ended up joining us. He's relatively new to the parenting world, and I got to talk to him about his son and saw pictures of the kid on Josh's blackberry. As it turns out, I forget the name of it, but you know those things that were like amazing when you were a kid? The balls of electricity to where if you touched it, the light would jump to your finger and follow it around. Josh had one of those on his phone! And it changed the sound effect every time you played with it! And he let me play with it for like 5 mins or so^^ Some time while I'd been sitting there, this girl started doing the bunny dance to Caramelldansen. People who do that have a method: If I stand here doing this dance long enough, people will join me. It works. Nathan and I were the second and third people to join. When we'd had our fun we returned to Shadow's side, only to turn around and see about 15 people doing that dance next to the girl who'd started it xD {Has turned the song on because it's on Shadow's playlist xD} Anyway, right after that, she started doing the dance from Haruhai, and she did it like perfectly. The people that joined her, had no idea what they were doing. You really have to study that dance unless you want to end up looking stupid. Around 745 ish Tork and I left Shadow to start the set up for Shadow's panel. He wouldn't get off security until 8 and his panel started at 8 >.< I logged in to his laptop for him and pulled up the list. The panel's theme was "American Comic book chars. vs. Anime/manga chars." Basically you take someone from an American comic, find an anime char with similar abilities, and predict what would happen if they fought. Twas hilarious, all 3 days. Shadow had a way bigger turnout than he'd expected. There were some people who came to it all 3 days, and because of word-of-mouth, people seemed to multiply every time he worked the panel^^ Oh! we made so many new friends on Friday xD There was this really adorable pikachu cos-player that Karasu was practically drooling over. Everyone waned to know how old she was. I asked her as she entered the game room, and her friend answered 14 xD As it turns out, the girl's real name is Trista, her friend's name is Kaitlyn, and they were so much fun to hang out with xD They joined us at the party that night and apparently Trista actually like Karasu xD Before I went down to the party I retreated to the hotel room for snackage and a shower, where Karasu came in to use the bathroom while I was in there, and Shadow followed suit >.< It's like I told Trista the following day, however, If I'm going to have male friends; I might as well get used to how open they are around each other and me. I spent most of that party getting Trista and Akira into dancing; although I was still able to have a blast myself. Akira, at first, wouldn't dance with anyone but me because I'm the only one he was comfortable with or something like that. Then it happened. Karasu and I changed the entire weekend for the better. We {I forgot to mention this. At Friday's party twas me, Akira, Karasu, Tenma, Trista, Kaitlyn, Trista's friends Matt and Chris. Tork showed up but didn't really dance, and Shadow didn't go at all.} were so lucky that this is how the events unfolded. Karasu, knowing that I was the one who'd had the guts to ask Trista how old she was to begin with, tapped me on the shoulder and pointed out this girl: she was wearing a white v-cut top with rainbow splatters on it. She had a red bra with matching shorts, rainbow socks, glowing bracelets and a rainbow flowered lei. Karasu says to me "Get her to dance with Akira" I walked up and laid it out like this "Excuse me. Would you mind dancing with my friend. He's really self conscious" It turns out, she was willing to dance with Akira, was all over him in fact whee , her name's Mira, she's 18 she lives in Cocoa Beach and she's so much fun to be around xD We also ended up dancing with Annie, 16, who had glow-in-the-dark snake-like accessories in her hair which lead her to be nicknamed "Medusa" for the evening. rofl After the party, we went back to the Mariot {apparently Mira and Annie were staying there too! Trista and company went home because they'd only had one day passes} to swim, but the pool was closed, so we hung out on the floor of the 3rd floor and talked for an hour or so. At one point, Nathan Karasu and I went up to our room for snackage to share with everyone. Back up at the room when everyone was finally ready to call it a night, I ended up sharing a bed with Karasu and Tenma because Shadow didn't want me sleeping on the floor { heart He can be sweet, he just doesn't show it often} Tork and Ariel shared a bed, Nathan slept in a chair and Shadow slept in what came to be known as his "emo corner" smile
Saturday Ariel and Tenma had to get up early for work, and I didn't even realize Tenma'd left the bed until Karasu, Nathan, Tork, and Shadow woke me up while they were talking. The human chess match took place at noon, and it was EPIC! The chess match consists of two sides {this year fantasy vs. sci fi} playing chess on a stage with a giant chess board on it. Instead of just taking each other, chracters have to fight for the space the conflict is over. Arial played Captain Falcon, the only character that projected well enough to be heard clearly no matter what he said. He actually had to fight Marth, and they played out the fight like they were actually playing Smash bros! They ringed each other out, had stock, and the smash ball was brought in to play. In the end, it was "no contest" no one took the square. There was a 3-on-one where the king on the sci-fi side totally owned the 3 opponents he fought. Shadow's friend Tom played the fan carrying pretty boy from guilty gear against some guy from Soul Caliber. Tom kept spamming the wind attack xD At one point the two crossed paths and posed randomly before they started fighting again and the SC guy ended up with one of Tom's fans and started acting queer with it rofl Gene Starwind fought the assassin from Assassin's creed. They made it look like Gene won because he shot him but as he was kneeling over the alleged dead body, the guy rose up and stabbed him. Apparently assassin's aren't affected by bullet wounds. Right after, the assassin was revealed to be a traitor to fantasy because he tried to assassinate the king, who was protected by his stubborn elven queen. She died, which pissed off the king who totally owned the assassin for that. She wasn't even supposed to be there, according to the story. He wanted to leave her behind to protect her, and she showed up and ended up dying in his arms. Tragic, no? The ending was ridiculous. Darth Vader came out while the two kings {the only two left, mind you} and killed them both >.< After the chess match, the panel. At 4, after the panel ended, I went up to the room. I cleaned it and organized the food, then napped. At around 9 I couldn't sleep any more and ended up shaving my legs. Halway through this, Akira showed up {I'd previously been the only one in the room. Not the entire time, but when I'd decided to shave I'd been alone} so I had to answer the door in a towel >.< and by the time I finished shaving, everyone was back. While I showered, Trista, who'd been at the pool with Kaitlyn Akira and Karasu {Akira had a charlie horse which is why I'd had to let him in before everyone else} was blow drying her underwear for the rave later that evening. We conversed nude at one point {didn't see anything of each other because of the shower curtain, btw} because she'd been changing while I showered and this is where that friends and being comfortable around each other came in to play. After I showered,Akira ended up getting in. I sat on the toilet while he was in there, shaving off the hair I'd missed the first time around. Then Karasu got in and Kaitlyn had come to help Trista dry off because the blow dryer was crappy and she was tired of doing it herself. So, while I was brushing my teeth Karasu was showering, and Kaitlyn ended up wrapping me in the cord of the blow dryer because the small bathroom was not meant to accommodate 3 female bodies around the sink xD Finally it was rave time. I knew better than to wear jeans and because I myself hadn't gone swimming I wore the shorts I'd broought to use to swim in to the rave. There were SOOOOO many more people at that than at the party. The body heat alone was enough to make you sweat, much less the dancing xD Shadow came that night just for the music because he doesn't dance rolleyes He had other reasons for not participating but I refuse to repeat them becuase they pissed me off. We all ended up meeting with all our new friends from the previous night and were like all over each other and goofing off and such. At the beginning, this guys had Tesla coils on stage, and was playing them with the beat to the gaming music everyone was dancing to. Twas EPICLY EPICLY EPIC! He played them to the mario theme as well, and everyone in the audience was singing along xD The last song he did with the coils was the Star Wars theme and again, everyone sang along. There were a few songs with lyrics in them Cascada's every time we touch, numa numa, and cascada's miracle. everyone screamed the lyrics to these songs {they're all on my playlist and have been for a while. >.<} and jumped around when the beats picked up. It was just so stupid and so much fun xD At the end, everyone chanted for one more song and the dj rickrolled us before actually playing Sandstorm as the last song of the evening; making it the 2nd time that song had been played that night >.> Exhausted, I made it to the hotel room alone to find Tenma trying to sleep and Tork, Shadow, and Akira hanging out. Apparently they'd bailed on the rest of us when Cascada played the first time. I was irritated that they hadn't stayed, but too tired to honestly care. I showered for over 20 minutes due to other people's BO clinging to me and almost falling asleep in the shower itself. I crawled in to bed and don't really remember anything after that except Karasu getting a 6 am phone call from some chick and Shadow telling him to get off the phone and go to sleep. Blake ended up in the room that night with us. I'd thought this was a dream until the boys confirmed it the next morning. Everyone was up at 9 something to get our stuff down to Tork's dad before he left. That day, I found out about a lot of things that happened in Suki's hotel room that completely pissed me off and caused me to revoke Suki's status as godmother to my daughter. Drama aside, I tried to sleep during Shadow's panel and was unable to. We left at 4 something when mima picked up me, Karasu, Blake, and Shadow. We had to go to Tork's to retrieve our stuff and my Tinkerbell blanket is still over there <.< After Karasu was dropped off, we made it home and I called my mother to bring my baby home. Best Metrocon so far in my opinion. Can't wait to do it again next summer mrgreen
