The sometimes daily, sometimes weekly, sometimes monthly thoughts of Loch. Yay! A lot of times I'll be mentioning my site updates. Just click WWW at the bottom of my journal entries if you wanna see my site.
Hey Jude
2003-09-14

I had a scare with Bunny (my computer) this weekend. I heard the maintenance guys yelling, "Power off! Power off!" and I was wondering what the blazes they were yelling about. I figured it was because there's a new double-wide (mobile home, for all you non-trailer trash folks) going in a couple of lots down. I thought they were trying to get the guy to turn the power off to that lot, but they meant all the lots.

Sooo, that meant that the power just VRMm... right off. And Bunny was on... Oh not good, not good. Then when they tried to turn it back on, POP! and a few choice expletives and Bunny did not come back with the power. Oh the monitor and the CPU were both giving me the green light, but I was getting the black screen.

So yesterday and today was spent hoping that it was something other than the hard drives that have my portfolio, artwork, and three writing projects I've been working on (one of which that is about 200 pages now) and how none of this stuff is backed up on disk.

Everytime this happens I am always thinking, Oh if it will just come back I will back it up for sure this time! And everytime after burning the incense, praying to the one dead person I know that would have gone upwards, wiggling the cords, mashing buttons, doing a little tribal dance while my mother sings half the chorus to Hey Jude (the two lines she knows), and countless deep breaths while trying not to scream a few expletives of my own, I always am so happy after it is some little thing that I completely forget to back anything up. Why is this? It is because I, Angela Cross, am the world's biggest slacker.

Not that there's anything wrong with being organized and neat and prepared and all that, but where's the excitement in that kind of life? I mean really!? Those organized people are stressed 24/7 and die early (of course they probably have their entire estate in order) while slackers live longer, richer lives that are much more exciting. It's much better to have a quick adrenaline rush than to be in a constant state of stress.

So I've decided that it's better for my health to not worry about backups. I'll get around to it eventually. Maybe. Sometime. Yeah, definitely sometime.

In other health news I didn't do any dancing this weekend and that number is still sadly low. This is due to the fact that I took a dive off of my clunky sandals and twisted my ankle slightly and not due to the fact that I'm a total slacker.

As far as the site, I'll work on it, um, later...

I love end of season sales in the garden department.

63.43 miles dance dancin'!
76.4 miles walking Pepper
