Powers: Enhanced senses, above average strength and stamina, extra-tough, dragon-like skin (has been known to resist bullets, fire, and electricity), fire-breath, "Berserk" form (only in life-threatening, last resort situations).

MoD is not of Gaian origin. She is, in fact, an alien. Her people evolved from dragons, and became known as Draconans. There are many races of Draconans that evolved from the different kinds of dragons. They race of Draconan can be identified by the color of their hair.

Teal - Blue: Water
Light Brown - Dark Brown: Earth
Light Blue - Light Teal: Wind
Blonde: Lightning
Yellow-Green - Green: Nature
White - Light Gray: Light
Dark Gray - Black: Dark
Since MoD has Red hair, she is of the Fire race, and, as such, is naturally brave and bold.
Also, her home planet of Dracon is twice the size, and thusly, has twice the gravity of Gaia. Pound for pound, Draconans are at least twice as strong as most Gaians. Another interesting fact is that it's orbit is twice as big as Gaia, so one year on Draconan is equivalent to 10 years on Gaia. In this sense, it seems like her people live for a really long time, since the average life span on her planet is 100 years.
The people of Draconan have much sharpers senses than most people on the other planets do, so they tend to be highly prized for work requiring lots of accuracy, like shooting and engineering. However, since they're eyes and ears are incredibly sensitive, they must wear special light-filtering glasses or contacts and sound-filtering earrings when they are not on their home planet. The atmosphere on their planet has special properties that filter their sun and sound for them to the appropriate levels for their eyes and ears to handle. Another note is, because they're senses are extraordinarily refined, they are more prone to "sensory overload."
Children, especially pure Draconan children, are a rare commodity on her planet. It is not unusual to live for all their years and not have one child. It is said that they can only have a child when the two partners love each other totally and completely. Baby snatching has become an unfortunate problem that exists where she's from. There are entire mobs that are dedicated to collecting them.
The main reason so many are interested in pure Draconan children is because of a special DNA strand that exists in pure Draconan people. This strand is a last ditch survival tactic that activates in times of extreme stress or peril. What happens is, the body reverts to a more primitive time in it's evolutionary stage. The body becomes more dragon-like than human. However, the DNA isn't complete, so this form is savage and very unstable. Also, for some reason, it can only be first activated as a child under the age of 13. When this form first activates, some of it stays activated, and there are notable changes in the subject. Most are minor physical changes, like growing horns, or changing skin color. Sometimes though, the child could grow wings, claws, and even use the elemental ability of their race!

Rayne was born into the world a simple farm girl. When she was 5 Draconan years, she was already helping her mom and dad harvest the crops and wrangle the livestock. Life was simple, and that's how she liked it. At an early age, she was really skilled in "breaking" the rider dragons. She loved to race them on her farm. She would even sometimes sneak out at night just to ride them.
One day, when she was 8, members of the mob came to try and kidnap her. Her parents were not going to stand idly by and let that happen. They tried to fight them off, but they were out-manned and out-armed. They were killed before her eyes. She stared into the eyes of the murders, fearing that death soon came for her. Then, everything went black. She didn't know it at the time, but she had triggered her "other" DNA, and savagely killed the kidnappers. However, before she killed the leader of the kidnappers, he stabbed her right eye with a knife, blinding her in that eye. But, after she eliminated the threat, she went berserk. She was not aware of what she was doing and ended up destroying her farm and everything on it.
When she awoke, she found herself at the hospital. She also wondered why her right eye hut so much. She stroked her hand over it to feel cotton, a bandage. When she looked at her hands, she saw that her finger nails were now longer, thick, and sharp. They became claws. Seeing a mirror close by, she also noticed she had horns. Starting to panic, a doctor came in at calmly explained what had happened to her. It was at the hospital that she was told of the "other" DNA and what causes it to activate. She realized that those people who came caused it to happen.
Now that she was orphaned, she was adopted by a wise, old Wate Draconan who was skilled in the ways of the sword. He taught her much about the sword and the skill of breathing fire she acquired after the "other" DNA activated for it's first time. He also taught her about the "other" DNA and why people sought pure Draconan children like herself. She greatly respected him. She didn't view him as a father, but she viewed him as something close. When they were in private, she would call him Grandfather, since she never had a real one, and she imagined that this is what a grandfather would do for their grandchildren.
When she was 17, he passed away. Holding his teachings close to her heart, she set out for other worlds to learn more about herself. Soon, she became an intergalactic bounty hunter. She joined well known bounty-hunting group. However, when she joined them, her sword abilities weren't enough when facing those with laser-guns. As a necessity, she too learned how to use the laser-rifle and became quite skilled with it in a short amount of time. Coupled with her sword abilities, she proved to be quite the asset for them. One time, one of their bounties caused a bunch of dragons to go berserk. Using her skills she learned on the farm, she calmed them with relative ease. Her team was so impressed, they started calling her "The Master of Dragons," which she eventually shortened to MoD. When she reached the age of 18 Draconan years, she tired of that life and quit the team.
She decided to try and rebuild her old life on the farm, but she did not want to return home for the fear of her own people was still strong even after all this time. She decided to pick Gaia, since it was similar to her home planet but not enough so to cause nostalgia. However, shortly after arriving, she had run into a bank heist in progress. Being inherently brave due to her fire dragon characteristics and being used to nabbing the scum of the universe, she stopped the robbers and was praised for her heroism. From that day on, she decided to fight evil where ever it lurks.
Side Note:
Unbeknown to her, MoD's Berzerk form was the extremely rare and powerful "Black Dragon" form. However, this form is so powerful and unstable that one does not instantly revert back to one's normal self after the threat has passed. Most of the form's power has to be sealed away to prevent the holder of said from from being overwhelmed. For MoD, the seal is located in her blind right-eye. If it ever "saw" light, the Berzerk form would be unleashed in its full fury. (All MoD was told when she was younger was , "Never remove that eye-patch, or there will be dire consequences." wink
