Mia's Field Notes
Prologue Pt. 2
((As some of you have noticed, the prologue was incomplete. This was because:
1.) I enjoyed writing it so much, I ended up writing 5 pages full of dialogue and action.
2.) I had originally planned the ending to be different....but at the last minute I decided to end it more dramatically.

If anyone is interested, I will include the alternate ending in a seperate entry. For now, enjoy part two of the epic fight. ^_^))

The male sighed deeply. Not another self-righteous warrior, he thought to himself. "Fine then, I will just make this as fast as possible." His eyes glowed a deep red as a purple circle surrounded him. "Dark chains," he shouted. Several shadow-like chains shot out from the spell circle and towards the traveler.

"Reflect," the traveler announced in a monotone voice. A light, blue dome surrounded her, causing the chains to bounce off the barrier and disappear from sight.

The demon snarled at her. He wasn't going to let her get away alive. "Since you fare so well with magic, I shall fight you in physical combat." He chuckled darkly at her. He grinned revealing his fangs, and began to crouch to the ground. His form began to slowly ripple and change quickly. His back arched over and his arms began to stretch and lengthen. His fingernails became dark claws, as black fur began to rip across his body. And then his face morphed into a wolfish grin. A giant wolf embraced the brave traveler.

The traveler showed no signs of fear. She merely stood in place, taking quick glances every once and a while to her staff. Her staff began to chime and glow a magnificent sea blue. Of course, the traveler’s demeanor only angered the giant wolf more. It growled darkly before lunging at the cloaked stranger.

“Limitare,” the traveler announced. A strange white thread shot out from the staff and bound the wolf in place. It struggled to get itself free, but to no avail. The traveler grabbed their staff and walked over to the newly bound wolf. “Herot of the Animae, for your crimes against witches and the human race-“

“I will be bound and sealed in some ancient ruin, where some idiot will free me or it will naturally weaken,” the wolf spoke in a dark, grisly tone. He had been through this before. So, this speech bored him. “Just get it over with already.”

“No,” the traveler continued. “The council has acknowledged that you are a greater threat then they originally thought. So, there will be no restricting or sealing of any sort.”

The wolf shivered slightly before returning to human form. He then looked up at the traveler, perplexed. “Then what has the council purposed.”

“You are to be sentenced to Hollow, where you shall teach at Arx Noctis for a lifetime. The council has already sent word to the headmasters there. I’m sure they already have found a place for you.”

“And what if I disagree to this ‘arrangement’ and kill the students?”
There was a dark tone to his question.

“The Hollow is a place null and void of murders. If one were to occur, the parties involved would be expelled.” That put a smile on the demon’s face. “In your case however, the council has ruled that if any murder or form of violence is caused by you. You are to be immediately executed. Futher more, the council has prepared a sealing spell to restrict your more destructive abilities. Just in case you have any temptations to use force.”

The travler took out a scroll from underneath there cloak and opened it. “Nel nome della terra, il vento, il fuoco, ed il legame di acqua quest'uno del suo potere scuro.”* The scroll burst into flames and flew towards Herot. The flames then synged and burned his torso, making an intricate, light sigil on his body before it disappeared. “Do you have any last words before I carry out your sentence?” They spoke in dryly.

“Name….” He muttered under his breath.

“Pardon?”

“Your name, I desire to know your name.” Herot may have been fiendish, but even he knew and understood the honor code of combat. No warrior should go without knowing the name of the fellow warrior that bested him in combat. ….that and Herot like to remember names, in case he desired to track anyone down and kill them.
The traveler nodded and pulled back their hood, revealing a female face. She had light blue eyes, that sparkled like her staff and long blonde hair. “My name is Lianna Saris, keeper of the light sigils, guardian of the ancient woods, and treasurer of the sacred order of the wytches.” She spoke in a calm, monotone voice. It was hard to tell whether or not she was brainwashed or she had no feelings to begin with. She pointed her staff to the sky, and the two teleported away from the forest. It was quiet for a few, sparse seconds. And then the birds and squirrels of the forest began to sound off. It was as if nothing had occurred.

((*This spell was written in Italian, it means: In the name of the earth, wind, fire, and water bind this one of his dark power.))
