Mia's Field Notes
The Hollow-Herot
((Hello, if your reading this know two things:
1.) This is a backstory for a character in an rp.
2.) Herot is an original character by me, I just decided to put him in another universe for fun. ^_^))

~~~Prolugue~~~
A leaf fell silently in the mist of a forest. A gust of wind blew through the trees. And then there was nothing. No birds chirping in the trees, no squirrels gathering nuts, not even a gentle breeze. It was quite in the ancient woods....too quite.
And then the silence was broken by footsteps. In the distance, a figure in a light brown cloak came into view. The cloak covered their face from view and in their hand was a small, brown staff with a bright sapphire gem in the center piece.
This traveler treaded cautiously through these ancient woods. Constantly looking to and fro, for any signs of danger, for anything out of the ordinary. Because anything could jump out, anything like-
The traveler quickly jumped to their right side. Their cloak flowing gracefully in the opposite direction. Behind them a black spike stood in the ground. It quickly dissappeared soon afters. ....The traveler wasn't alone.
The traveler continued there path once more. Only to stop midway there stride and shift to the left. This time two black spikes were behind them.
The traveler did not advance anymore this time. Instead they stood in place, holding tightly to their staff. In mere seconds, they twirled their staff in front of them as several black spikes rained down. They were able to deflect most of them out of the way. But a few of them pierced a part of their cloak, only grazing some flesh. Any other spikes that did not hit there mark was left on the forest floor or in nearby trees.
When it stopped, the traveler planed the staff to the ground. They kept a firm hold on it as a bright light began to surround the gem of the staff. It seemed they were in the mist of chanting. But their chanting would soon be interupted.
A dark, sinister laughter resounded on all sides of the forest. It broke throught the silence as well as break the travler of their concentration. The traveler looked forward, showing no signs of retreat.
"It's been a while since a human lasted this long," the dark voice billowed out. "I wonder what your flesh will taste like."
The traveler did not say a word nor move an inch. The only sign that they were listening was the increase of light that filtered around the gem of their staff.
"Hmph....you're either very courageous or very foolish. Either way, I'll make sure your death is slow and painful." The voice bellowed out again.
Once the voice dided down, shadows began to surround the traveler. Each slither of shadow encroching them on all sides, slowly engulfing them.
"Luminto!" These words were uttered quietly, and barely audibly. Only the inhumane ears could pick up on the words that were announced. But once they passed by the lips of the traveler, a burst of light energy shot out of the staff and dispersed the shadows. Once the shadows were gone, only a lone, male figure was left.
If anyone was to notice this male figure the first thing they would notice was his wild, medium-length, light brown hair. His hair almost hid the crimson red eyes on his face and the wild, dark smirk that accompinied them. If he was sneering at that time, he would have revealed a set of sharpened teeth. And his attire. Only thing he wore was a pair of black pants or hikamas or trully whatever black garb one wears bellow their torso. Earth had so many different cultures, that it was hard to tell which one he was a part of. Or perhaps the pants were an illusion? But the blood covered all over his torso was not an illusion. If anything the blood was a trophy for the other travelers that passed this peaceful place before.
"Vile witch," he snarled at the traveler. He had a small, singed mark on his left arm. It was barely noticeable but he gripped at it momentarily.
"Have you come to seal me away?" He asked as he stopped gripping his arm. "If that is your purpose, leave now. It will be a waste of your time as well as mine. I will only escape whatever binds you place on me."
The traveler didn't speak again. The gem of their staff turned a dark blue. They let their staff answer his question.
The male sighed deeply. Not another self-rightous warrior, he thought to himself. "Fine then, I will just make this as fast as possible." His eyes glowed a deep red as a purple circle surrounded him. "Dark chains," he shouted. Several shadow-like chains shot out from the spell circle and towards the traveler.
"Reflect," the traveler announced in a montone voice. A light, blue dome surrounded her, causing the chains to bounce off the barrier and disappear from sight.
The demon snarled at her. He wasn't going to let her get away alive. "Since you fair so well with magic, then how about in pyshical combat." He chuckled darkily at her. He grinned revealing his fangs, and began to croach to the ground. His form began to slolwy ripple and change quickly. His back arched over and his arms began to stretch and legthen. His fingernails became dark claws, as black fur began to rip across his body. And then his face morphed into a wolfish grin. A giant wolf embraced the brave traveler.
Woooooow... I love the way this was written. It played out very much like a jam-packed movie scene, with a clear chase and fascinating magic and dialogue... wow!
The sentence structure does need a little work here and there, but otherwise it's quite quite good. I can't wait to read more!
