(Note: Dear Emily,
Maybe God will finally hear my words one day)
Darling I let you drink
Darling, I even let you smoke
I know that I can trust you
To be careful on what you choke
Darling, I give you love
Darling, I drown you in affection
I don't ask you to be perfect
And yet, to me, you are perfection
Darling you do me proud
Darling, I hold you dear
And I hope you remember that
Those times you are not here
Darling, I know you dance
Darling, I know you kiss boys
And I know that you break them
And then treat them like toys
Darling I know you are heartless
Darling, I think you should know
That I didn't see this coming
When I watched you grow
Darling, you're not like this
Darling, you know you can have fun
But how does it make me feel
When others tell me what you've done?
Darling, I read right through your lies
Darling I can see every cut and bruise
I went through the same thing as a teen
Because my breath smelled like booze too
Darling when did we have secrets?
You are a book forever shut
Darling when did you first fake it?
Darling, when did you first cut?
Darling, how long have you been hiding?
How long have I been naive?
The whispered dark thoughts in your head
Why will they not leave?
Darling, why are you so miserable?
Darling, why won't you take my hand?
Darling, why aren't you my darling anymore?
I just don't understand
Darling I never shout
And yet darling you make me cry
Because you broke the rules
Because you promised not to lie
Darling, she says shes your mother
You run to her for love and care
I am standing right here, darling
We have the same eyes darling, we have the same hair
Darling, I'm offering you my hand
But she is the one who gets you straight
She is the one who tucks you in
While I am left in a lonley state
Darling, don't forget
Darling, don't remembered

Everyone promises you a happily ever after.... but life turns into a different kind of fairy tale.
