Time warp
A cough broke the silence, then a shimmer of flame. A female figure rolled over and covered her face from the light with her long red copper color hair. She tried to ignore the noise but finally stirred to see the problem. She sat up in her bed and looked towards the candle in the far side of the room. When nothing over there moved she gave a slight grunt and laid her head away from the light. Right on the other side of her bed stood the head of her younger brother. She flew back up in her bed and held her heart.
“Saki… I need a drink.” He squeaked trying to be quiet.
She hated when James called her Saki, “it’s Sakashamei.” she repeated in her mind . “there is at least ten other people in this room,” she spoke motioning to the other people in the orphanage, “and you have to wake me?” she continued to complain putting her hands on her worn down pajamas. She tried to gibe another grunt look down at her younger brother but she knew she failed. He just stood there with those big green eyes like he always did when he wanted something. This was another thing they held in common.
She slowly slid her legs off the side of the bed and stood to her feet. “come on.” he gave a slight smile in the dark as she led him to the door. Sakashamei continued to lead James by his shoulder down the hall and to the kitchen. She knew this one floor orphanage like the back of her hand. Occasionally she would push or pull his shoulder to steered him away from creaks on the floor. The two made it into the kitchen and the girl went right for the plastic cups. The cold on the floor made her shiver with her bare feet as she began to fill the little in not quick tempered brother’s cup.
She turned slightly and handed him the cup and began to lead him back to their room. Sakashamei repeated the process back into the room and back to his bed. She did not say a word but tucked James in and turned back to her bed.
“Saki…” a small voice arouse behind her.
She turned around and faced her brother again ready to scold him for keeping her awake any longer. “what.” she said bluntly.
“I love you.”
No matter what the situation that always managed to melt the older sister’s heart. The short brown haired boy reminded her of when she was younger. So full of hope, so full of love. “good night.” she whispered to him and headed to bed.
During the night Sakashamei had the dream again… there was a young girl long beautiful red hair, big green eyes. Smiling, always smiling. Many would be jealous of the dimples she produced with that smile. It seemed so long ago but she remembered the memory of her parents, baby James and of course her, all sitting on the hover-go-round. Going around in circles, going around, and around and…
The sun brought Sakashamei back to reality a few hours later. She rolled over in her bed, the dream was so good. The orphan took her time to get up and slip clothes on. She found her favorite red skirt and white T-shirt. She had always enjoyed the retro look despite the clothing has gone out of style about 200 years ago. She sat down on her cot and hunted for her black knee high boots. It took a few seconds to wrestle on her favorite shoes and stand onto the floor. Our sixteen year old orphan smiled to herself as she brushed her long hair in the mirror. She looked over her clothes again making and began to explain to the reflection the plan.
“today is the day,” she began, “for seven hundred long days I worked my bottom off…” she motioned a slap upside the forehead and continued her thought. “I finally have enough, James can meet Mom and Dad.” Sakashamei went over to her mattress and pulled out an envelope of credits.
After a few seconds of recounting the money of her future, she stuffed the cards into her pocket and ran out the door. The humid sun made Sakashamei sweat as she headed for the store. She knew the direction of the store just like the orphanage. For about the past tow years she would walk to the same place to work, but today she was buying.
Back in the year 5980, seven years ago, scientist managed to invent a machine that could teleport any body into the past. They were a pair of gloves or gauntlets that gave the wearer the ability to teleport any were the person was before. The second piece was a choker necklace with an emblem of the crescent moon hanging from it. That could slow down or even stop the presence of time. Together the pieces allowed time travel. Of course both pieces were advanced technology so they were kept at a high price. The mechanism also had other uses. While in the past people or things could not see the time traveler so one could not mess up the time line.
Sakashamei checked over both pieces again and brought them over to a rather large robot. The robot was a common cashier, every store seem to have this product. It consisted of one hovering grey credit register and scanner. It could also stop a thief if the need be. “just another piece of ancient junk.” Sakashamei spoke under her breath . She walked up to the robot and cleared her throat so she could speak loudly. “X9-A2” she spoke loudly, “I am purchasing this object. The code on the product is… 1-2-1-4-0-9.” She handed the items onto the platform under the robot. The machine scanned them with a green light from the bottom of the chaise. She then began entering the credits into the front slot.
“purchase confirmed.” said a robotic voice. The girl squeaked with joy and took back the new items she bought.
“lets try these things out.” she slipped on the gloves and pressed together two buttons that were on each of the palms. She closed her eyes and imagined her bed room. Before Sakashamei could open her eyes again she was standing on top of her bed.
The orphan stepped down from her bed and just giggled. “I guess I still need to get a hang of this.” Before anything else could be done she ran out of the room to tell her brother of their surprise. The entire time she looked for him thoughts raced through her mind. “He is going to be so happy.” She ran up and down the hallway completely ignoring the squeaking floor and others in the house. She finally found her brother outside playing with a semi flattened ball.
“James…,” she gasped out. “I got a surprise for you.”

XXX TO THE PAST XXX

Sakashamei allowed her brother to pack after she explained the surprise to him. The look of his face the moment he realized that he would meet his parents is something Our hero will never forget.
When the time came she hoisted young James onto her back. She jumped up slightly and activated the portal to her past.
/////////////////
A fox ran in fear for its life. A shadow quickly followed behind hoping for a quick meal. the creature stood upright and bared whit cat like fangs….
/////////////////
Sakashamei could see her memories fly by her as she and her brother was carried through the time stream. A slight tickle rose up in her throat then into the back of her nose.
“Aaaaachooo.” she wiped her nose then took another look at the time line. “wait a minute…” the memory showed of a person sitting and playing on a computer. “we stopped using them pieces of junk back in 3000.” she looked again and seen two men fighting with pistols. Sakashamei tried to take the pressure off the jewel but some thing held her there… “James!” his arms were holding onto her neck and keeping the time warp up. Then as if on a cue the black chocker snapped and flung James off of her back.
All our heroin could remember was him reaching out to her. A miss. Then a bright light.
///////////////////
The predator was a few feet short to her prey. It was about to pounce on the helpless fox but suddenly a light forced the attacker back. The light quickly subsided and the meal was gone.
Sakashamei sat up, her head was spinning. She slowly got to her feet until reality kicked in. the weight of James was gone. A flash of red shot around behind her. For some reason Sakashamei felt tired, like she had been running for her life. She turned around quickly to just see the flash of red again. The girl continued to turn hoping to catch the thing behind her, yet for some reason she enjoyed hunting for it.
A breeze blew past Sakashamei and she twitched, another realization then hit her. She took her hand and slowly rubbed up the back of her head. Her hand stopped as it reached a foreign object attached to the top of her head. She continued to swat at it until she realized that it was attached. It took her a few seconds to figure out there was another waiting on top of her head.
A snap brought the hero back to her surroundings. Saka shuffled her feet around to see that she was no longer alone. A feline like figure was slowly approaching her direction. Its blue tail whipped around wildly and its fangs were ready for a fight.
It jumped onto it’s hind legs and ran towards Sakashamei. “what!” she screamed before she had another moment to think her hands took control instinctively and activated an energy bubble trapping the predator.
The animal started to scratch at the wall of the barrier occasionally giving out a cat like hiss as Sakashamei got closer to inspect her captive.
“wait, you are a humanoid aren’t you?” she put her hand on her chin and tried to see a little better.
The thing snarled, then stopped scratching. It got up onto its feet again and revealed the figure of another girl. “no, I am a demon. What do they call you? A lunch?”
Sakashamei felt kind of insulted. “No,” she did not want to continue talking to some one who was making fun of her. “I am a human.” she checked her self over again checking her ears on top of her head and her tail. She thought it would be wise not to tell she was from the future. “could you tell me what today is?”
The cat demon started scraping on the bubble again. “four days after spring.” she paused for a second and turned her direction away from Saka and towards a near by tree. “If only I had my halberd.”
Sakashamei lowered the barrier and her captive just gave her a surprised look. The opposing female ran to the tree she was inspecting and withdrew a weapon.
“now you will die human.”
The time traveler gave a smirk then pressed a button on her waist. Immediately a shock was sent to the demon and she fell to the ground.
“what… what did you do to me.”
“it is quite simple,” Sakashamei stated, “I need an escort around this area I am looking for a specific item/ you will help me.”
The cat demon struggled on the ground her crystal blue hair wavering behind her. “why should I?”
“because the bracelet on your hand… um paw, connects your hands together. That and to the ground… without me you will be living your life on the ground.” Sakashamei smiled at her devious plan. She did not like black mail but it was necessary to get home. “My name is Sakashamei, what can I call you?”
“Nekoyasha.”
