I HAVE A JOB!
Okay, it's not the best job you could get. I've got to stand in front of a business and greet people while dressed up like the statue of liberty. Seriously. Can you see me doing that? Well, you'd better start imagining it, because within a week or two it'll be a reality. The place is called Liberty Tax Service, and they just opened a new branch here in town. I'm gonna start out working only four hours a day, and it pays minimum wage... but that's about $8.50 an hour out here, so it's not so bad. Plus there will be chances for more hours and a pay raise as things progress. I'm sure that a lot of the other people he hired won't stick around.
Since it's a tax service, the job is seasonal, ending on that magical date in April. Still, it's a start, and I can always keep looking when I'm not at work or doing my college classes. I think the job will be fun. A lot better than my last job anyway. I mean, what's worse than having to lie to people over the phone in order to sell them $600 toner for their copiers? Actually, just thinking about walking around dressed like that statue of liberty is making me laugh. Michael, the boss who interviewed me, was wearing the costume today when I went in. Apparently he had been wearing it for a picture in the local paper too.
I think it'll be awesome to just stand around and say hello to people while dressed in a silly costume. Does that make me demented? Really, I'm just psyched to have any kind of job at all. I don't even mind the cross dressing. In fact, I think it's hilarious! Publicly embarrass myself for money? You got it!
