while on vacation at the house on lake huron i took a trip to Mackinac island. i wanted to do some follow up ghost hunting since the last time i was there i got some really great evp's (electronic voice phenomina). but as it turned out my tape recorder wasn't working right and i didn't have time to fix it since i was alright on the island. so all i had was my camera for taking pictures. but i didn't really get anything that i'd call a ghost. just one photo that i'll point out later when i comes up. but i still got some good pics to look at and here they are.
here are some kids i saw feeding sea gulls in mackinaw city while i was waiting for the ferry to the island to pick me up. at times the birds would literly fly all over them, rifht in their face, for the food. it was too funny. reminded me of the movie "the birds" by alfred hitchcock.
the only u.s. coast gurad sihp at mackinaw. i've never seen it used.
the mackinaw bridge. it's the 2nd longest suspension bridge in the world (the longest is in japan). the mackinaw bridge is over 5 miles long.
mackinack island
early morning fog over the island.
the 2 most noticable land marks of the island are the grand hotel (on the left) and fort mackinac (on the right).
the hotel.
the fort.
some of the richer homes on the island.
view of the marina in front of the fort.
the homes and st. anne's church on the outscirts of town.
round island passage lighthouse.
the town in early morning before the rush of torests crowd the streets.
the shop keepers dog siting out side the stable where you can rent hourses. (awww he's so cute heart )
one of the ladys i talked to that worked in the Biddle's house. the oldest known house on the island.
another girl at the Biddle's house.
small garden at the biddle's house. the girl in the first picture would actuly get ingreediants for her cooking from here.
a little chipmonk in the back on the Biddle's house. it's used to people being around and i could get close enough to pet it but if i tryed it would run away.
So Cute!! whee
the black smith in the barn next to the biddle's house.
a haunted house i swear i saw in a dream some days before visiting the island. the way i encountered it in the dream was the exact same way i came opon it once at the island.
statue of Father Marquette who founded the missionary on the island (mission church and the mission house). hist statue stands in front of the fort in the middle of Marquette Park. on my last vist to the island before this one i got a strange evp as i walked away from the statue. sounded like an old radio being tuned for a certain freqwency.
view of Fort Mackinac from the park.
Crow's Nest Point that overlooks the town and park. located just beside the fort. a very good spot for views.
one of 2 entrences to the fort. on my last visit to the fort i got an evp that sounded like a man saying "welcome" as i entered. the evp is really undicernable and you can't tell what is being said but that's just what i precieved it as being. i got the same sound when ever i entered or left a building or the fort. liike a soldior was stationed at the doors welcoming visitors.
cannon at the fort. it is fired off from time to time for demonstrations. but never with real cannon balls. you can see Crow's Nest Point in the background.
view of the main field and baracs in the fort. the porch that stands there now was actuly different back when the fort was still in use. there used to be stairs in front of every door way to the building.
view of inside the solitary confinment chamber undernieth the fort jail. no one is able to really see this since there is railing blocking any view inside. i was sneaky and sorta climed partly in to get the pic. ninja it is said that a man's skeliton was found inside during excavation and renovation.
view of the main jail cell.
heh, kids. rolleyes
one of the rooms in the fort's many buildings.
the school house in the fort.
inside one of the watch towers, looking up at the second floor. notes the burn marks on the wooden beems. there was obviously a fire inside. but it mayb just be smoke damage from the fire place inside.
some of the reinactors at the fort.
some funny repair men working on some electrical stuff. prity fun to talk to these guys.
well that's enough photo's for one entry. i'll post the rest in the next.
