"Sweety wake up. You'll miss school if you don't wake up." I started to wake up and murmured, "What?" " Get up silly." I jumped out of bed and asked, " What time is it?" " 7:50. you have 10 minutes till the bus is here or you'll be late for your first day of school." My name's Mia. I live in Adams,Oregon. It's small but has a lot of potential. I live with my mom. My dad died a while back but I don't like talking about it. Anyway, today is my first day of my new school. I moved here over the summer and I don't know why. My mom just said we were leaving and that's it. End of story. Time to ruin my life again. " Hurry up Mia!" "Okay!" When I got dressed I heard the bus honk. " You're luck your hair doesn't mess up or else you'll never get to school." Whatever, I thought but didn't say it. I rushed to the bus and found a seat in the back so no one would bother me. Then I heard someone sit next to me. " Hi." I responded by saying "What do you want?" I said this in the most annoyed tone I could get out of myself. " I heard you just moved here. I also heard you are depressed. Why is that?" I wondered what he was getting at but I just said," I was born depressed. What does it matter to you?" " I know what you are. I can tell by the color of you're eyes. Nobody has red eyes you know." " What?" was all I could say. Nobody has ever known what I was. " You're a vampire aren't you? Trying to disguise herself as a human. What a shame." " What do you mean?" " I think you should show the real you. Not hide yourself." " I have a reason for that. Wait how did you know I was a vampire?" " I have a sense that tells me what people are. I'm a demon." " What kind of demon? And why are you telling me this?" " I don't know. Maybe because you're a kind of demon like me. And I'm the good guy. Why do you hide yourself? What is your reason?" " Okay. So I don't go beserk infront of everyone and kill them. I don't like people." " By you saying you were born do you meen in human or being created." " Why should I tell you. Most of us need privacy you know," " I'll just leave then. Go to people who respect me." I just shrugged. He moved away from me to the front to sit next to goth looking guy with a black jacket. When we got to school I rushed to the office to get my schedule. When I got there I saw his friend taking to the administrator in a low hushed voice. I listened to their conversation. all I could hear was " He wants to switch classes or at least have time to show the new girl around. Just for today." I swelled up with anger. I can't believe he's doing this to me. Then I remembered to put my contacts in. When he left I went up and got my class schedule and rushed off. Ti fast for a normal pace but I was to angry to notice. When I got to Algebra, my first class, I saw him sitting next to the only empty desk in the class. I sat there and never turned to look at him and when class was over I gathered all my things and tried to get out before he could catch me but something grabbed my arm. " What do you want?" " Could I show you around?" " No. I heard your friends conversation with the administrator and I don't really think you should." " You heard that?" " Of course.Now run along little demon before I kill you infront of everyone." " I'm not a little demon." " Please. I can smell that you're only half breed." " How can you? The stories I've heard are vampires can only smell humans and their kind." " Well the stories are wrong. I can smell eveything I want to. I can also see that you still have a little heart left in you." " Well I'll just leave now." " You probably should." He rushed off as if he we running from something scary. I giggled a little even though anger still raged inside me. I'm glad my power was to frighten people when they look in my eyes. I'm also mad I got this power because what if I got a boyfriend and he looked into my eyes. I rushed to every boring class and then to lunch. I sat in an empty table in a dark corner. I took out my annoying contacts and played with my pencil rolling it back and forth. "Hi." I looked up even though I new it was him from one,his voice, and second, the beating of what was left of his human heart. " What do you want?" " I wanted to ask you something." " What?" " I was wondering when I looked into your eyes I got scared like something was after me. Out to get me and that thing caught up to me." " Well you found out my power. I scare people when they look into my eyes. That's why I don't talk or ever be near people except my mom because she's immune to my power." " Weird." " Why were you starring
at my eyes anyway?" " I can see people's past through their eyes." " I thought we went through the whole privacy thing and why aren't you with your friend? " "He'll be here soon. I just wanted to know what happened back in Algebra. Well bye." He put his hand in my direction as if a gesture to shake his hand. I never did and than he took off. I went out into the quad glad it wasn't sunny. I hate the sun even though I'm the only one of our kind that can go out into it. What is this guys problem? Does he think he can be friends with me when I show him that that will never happen? I wish that he would stop bothering me. Will he ever understand that we're mortal enemies? I can never be associated with a half breed. It's against the rules. Obviously he's never heard them. Then the bell rung.
