Calyxi's Diary
:] Life's a b***h
WOW! An Oscar Wilde and Gandhi-free quotes page - such a thing actually exists! exclaim surprised

Many of these are from random blogs/chats....I'll try not to post like, every one of the BAZILLIONS of awesome quotes I've saved over time (yes, it's a lame and cliched thing to do, but you do it too - admit it. ;D Who doesn't love quotes?)

Quote:

Because, as everyone knows, gay men are gay only because they like a**. its not at all about the rest of the body or personality type.

*eyeroll*
Haha, yeah, gay men aren't really that smart. They only realize years later that women actually have asses too.

No but honestly we're just like ***** to them. There actually have been movements where people have demanded a teacher be fired because they are homosexuals, and thus not ...safe around kids?

"The only reason I can think they wouldn't want their kids around a gay teacher is because *shock horror* it might make them accept gay people as people! And not as "a plague upon humanity"."

"If heaven will be filled with the people who hate you, is it worth going through hell in an attempt to get there?"

"When it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, I'm already better than them." --Marilyn Monroe

"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."

"You have to walk carefully in the beginning of love; the running across fields into your lover's arms can only come later when you're sure they won't laugh if you trip."
-- Jonathan Carroll

Here is my final point. About drugs, about alcohol, about pornography and smoking and everything else. What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see, say, think, who I ********, what I take into my body - as long as I do not harm another human being on this planet?

"I think that if I ever have kids, and they are upset, I won't tell them that people are starving in China or anything like that because it wouldn't change the fact that they were upset. And even if somebody has it much worse, that doesn't really change the fact that you have what you have. Good and bad."
- The Perks of Being A Wallflower

"I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But as much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking. The world is so exquisite with so much love and moral depth, that there is no reason to deceive ourselves with pretty stories for which there is little good evidence. Far better it seems to me, is to look death in the eye and to be grateful everyday for the brief but magnificent."

"I walked over to the hill where we used to go and sled. There were a lot of little kids there. I watched them flying. Doing jumps and having races. And I thought that all those little kids are going to grow up someday. And all of those little kids are going to do the things that we do. And they will all kiss someone someday. But for now, sledding is enough. I think it would be great if sledding were always enough, but it isn't."

"How is one to live a moral and compassionate existence when one is fully aware of the blood, the horror inherent in life, when one finds darkness not only in one's culture but within oneself? If there is a stage at which an individual life becomes truly adult, it must be when one grasps the irony in its unfolding and accepts responsibility for a life lived in the midst of such paradox. One must live in the middle of contradiction, because if all contradiction were eliminated at once life would collapse. There are simply no answers to some of the great pressing questions. You continue to live them out, making your life a worthy expression of leaning into the light." --Barry Lopez--Arctic Dreams

"Now who's the one to blame for the strain in my vocal chords?
Who can pen a hateful threat but can't hold a sword?
It's the same who complain about the global war
But can't overthrow the local joker that they voted for,"

---Sage Francis

Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones, as a wind blows out the candle and fans the bonfire.

Those who dream by night, in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the morning to find that all was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act upon their dream with open eyes and make it possible.
- T.E. Lawrence

Only you can make your mind up! You’re the one and only one!
—"Hunches and Bunches" by Dr. Seuss

A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
---Douglas Adams

"I know I am not perfect, I don't live to be. But before you go and point fingers, make sure your hands are clean." - Bob Marley

Something i like to say about religious types is:
"I do good things because its the right thing to do and it makes me feel good about myself. You do the right thing because you are told you have to on the threat of fire and brimstone"

"Yeah, I work at a youth service so I often feel old compared to all the 15/16 year olds - like the other day when one of them exclaimed "I found this EPIC band that's REALLY OLD in my mum's CD collection; they're called the Cranberries!!"
I almost died of old age on the spot right there and then."

Quote:
"I wouldn't have realised you're gay, you're very straight-acting."

Am I now? 'Cause I'm fairly sure that, as cute as my boyfriend is, straight guys wouldn't want to have sex with him."

"I'm not flamboyant. I don't have a feminine voice (shut up Tim) and I don't wear rainbow coloured clothes. I hate techno music and clothes shopping. I don't watch Sex and the City or Desperate Housewives or any of that other crap. I just don't. But I am attracted to men. And that means I'm gay."

"It just infuriates me that I'm not seen as a "proper" gay man or something, by a lot of people, just because I don't scream my sexuality in every single thing I do.
One of my sister's favourite stories is a time our whole family were at some fancy shindig, and this stupid girl was sitting blabbering away to me, and in general conversation I mentioned my boyfriend. She goes,

"Oh, you mean you're gay? Wow, I would never have guessed. You act very straight."

I just looked at her like she was an idiot and replied, "You think so? You should see me in bed with him. I don't act so straight then."
My sister nearly fell off her seat from laughing."

"I get that all the time. What exactly do you want me to do about it? What about a huge neon sign flashing GAY right above my head. Hmmm...maybe it's cause I don't wear any rainbows. That's probably what's throwing someone for a loop."
