Chapter 2 from the Fantasy RP forum.
Wraith opened his eyes and he felt weak. He remembered falling victim to Echo's control, then he remembered nothing. He tried to get up onto his knees, but winced when he realized how sore he felt. He looked around and he saw his sword and crystal on the ground next to him.
" What happened?" he asked outloud. He picked up his items and put them away. Echo did something horrible, Wraith could feel it.
" Why me?" he asked himself again. He pulled himself up against a tree and he resisted an urge to cry.
Kilara blinked, a little confused. When she relized what had happened she smiled. Then she hung upside down from her perch on the tree and looked him in the eyes. "Hello! You, or whoever had control of you was quite rude last night." she was still smiling.
Wraith was surprised by the girl in his face. He went bug-eyed and he fell on his side.
" WHAT IN THE WORLD!?!?!" he shouted. He sat up and looked at her.
" You shouldn't sneak up on people!!! You scared me!!!"
Kilara smiled. "Yes, but it is quite fun!" She swung down from her perch and sat next to him. She poked his shoulder. "Hmmmm..interesting." She said and frowned.
Wraith blinked.
" Who are you and what do you find so interesting?!?!?! I'm having sort of a bad morning here!!!!!!!"
"Trust me I had a worse night. First I try to help you, then you try to kill me, then I try to kill you, and now your nice, sort of. And I hit you with a poisened dagger there, thats whats so interesting, you should be dead right now." She yawned and leaned back against the tree, trying to keep her eyes open.
Wraith figured out what she was talking about and sighed.
" Greaaaaaat. First Echo takes control, then he almost gets me killed. Thank the gods I have that friggin crystal," he said, " He's lucky I don't kill myself..."
"Sorry, did I make your day worse?" She looked over at him with her golden eyes. "Who is Echo?"
Wraith groaned.
" No, you didn't make my day worse, but do you REALLY have to know who Echo is??????"
"Well..no, but...did you...or what...Who attacked me?!" She didn't want to ask, but felt she needed to.
Wraith sighed and crossed his legs, his back to her.
" I'm sorry you were attacked. But it's not my fault. Echo is a vampire who possessed me when I was a child," Wraith said. He felt a sudden urge to tell her the whole story.
" When I was little, I was kidnapped by a group of demon-worshipers in the middle of the night. Apparently, they were Echo's followers, who were trying to bring him back. They took me to a secret place in the woods near my village where they could perform the ritual. I was supposed to be a sacrifice for him," Wraith continued, feeling rage boil in his blood," I was tied down and cut in places were blood would flow heavily. When Echo possessed my body, he used me to kill his own servants, as well as my own parents and everyone in my village. I don't know why it had to be me."
Wraith stopped for a moment. " I'm now looking for a way to banish Echo into the abyss."
Kilara felt terribly sad for him, she wrapped her arms around him. "You'll be ok, I'll watch over you." She let go of him and smiled "Is there anything I could do for you?" She felt the need to help him in anyway possible.
Wraith panicked.
" N-no! You can't come with me! The most you can do is turn and run in the other direction! Every night Echo takes control and if he means to kill you you'll be in terrible danger if you stick with me!!!"
Kilara put her hands on her hips, her stubborn side showing. "I don't care, I survived last night, didn't I? And I could just leave at night and return in the morning." She said smiling again, she was detrimed to help him.
Wraith sighed. She was right, and it appeared that he wasn't going to be able to get rid of her. He stood up and he brushed the dust off his backside.
" Oh fine! You can come along! But if Echo sees you as prey it's your own fault!" he said.
Kilara smiled and threw her hands up in the "YEAH!" She said and jumped up into the tree above them. "So, where to next, we have 8 hours till dark."
Wraith looked up at her.
" It's three hours till we reach the next town. We should go there and look for something to eat," he said.
"Yes! Food! Then sleep, I'm so tried, all nighters are tough." She yawned again. Then she followed him from the trees.
"so if I follow them I will get to a town"Alric said standing up climbing into the trees quickly making only a slight scratching sound
Kilara stopped for a moment hearing him get up. She continued walking but listened closely for anymore of his movements
Alric noticed he had been heard quietly he continued through the trees above them wrapping his wings about him to make his shadow less noticeable.
Wraith stopped and turned to Kilara.
" Did you hear that?" he asked her.
"Yes, I didn't want to tell you, I thought I was hearing things, because I was tired." She said a little embrassed. Then she looked up trying to spot the sound.
Alric mis-stepped landing ,and breaking, a smaller branch he fell slowly due to his outspread wings"um hi"Alric said gripping his hands making the claws dissapear once more and folding his wings behind him.
