For those of you who don't know I'm a type 1 diabetic. This week I'm going to a camp designed for kids/teens with Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is not like type 2. Type 1 you don't get from eating to much and getting fat. Sometimes it randomly develops. But, usually, it is passed through the jeans. (so don't shop at wal-mart lol) lol not blue jeans i mean genes, sorry.^^
We (type 1)are insulin dependant. The organ, the pancreas, creates insulin in the body. Insulin activates to move the carbohydrates around. if it doesn't they get stuck in your bloodstream. When that happens a poisen is created that slowly kills you, makes your fingers, toes, then arm and legs go num and lifeless. Can also cause you to go blind. For some reason the pancreas stops. For type 2 they make some... but it doesn't work right... theres can be cured too mine can't. So I have to take shots for how many carbohydrates I take in. I also must test the sugar in my blood by poking my finger with a needle and putting the blood on a strip. If my bloodsugar is too high I have to test for the poison called ketones. (i think that's what they're called... i may have kidny stones stuck in my head getting the word mixed up lol) The way to test is to pee on a stick. A lot of fun let me tell you. At this camp the counsulars regulate my diabetes fairly well and take pretty much all the pain of doing it away. Except for the bloodsugar testing and peeing on the stick (they can't physically do that for me lol), but they figure out how much insulin I need and stuff. It was very fun last year. It lasts a week and I will be back sometime on next Sunday... or is it Saturday? I'm not sure and I don't feel like waking anybody to ask them..
