Today the shopping gods smiled upon me. I went to the mall with Aunt Barb and got a hilariously appropriate present for Mother's Day (not saying what it is just in case Mom sees this). While looking for her present I found a book called Stories from a Moron: Real Stories Rejected by Real Magazines. It's a collection of articles the author wrote that were rejected by magazines, complete with rejection letters from the editors. This includes an article called "I Love Dogs" which he sent to CatFancy. Teehee. Later Mom and I went to Hot Topic to pick up a new jacket I ordered (my sacred jacket is nearing the end of it's jackety lifespan). The new one is covered in Pac Man. It is pure win in jacket form. While we were there I saw a display of MSI shirts for their new CD, and the art on the shirt was by the almighty Jhonen Vasquez. Such a high level of awesomeness is rarely found in one article of clothing. I must have been practically drooling over them because Mom and the salesdude were laughing at me and Mom offered to get me one because I loved it so much. Five minutes of screeching and shirt-hugging ensued, and then we went to the register. Then something amazing happened- the salesdude said that they had a special sale going, and if you bought the MSI shirt you could get their new CD for half the original price. What is amazing about this is that not only did I get the CD, Mom got it for me. The woman who told me that she wouldn't buy me a Reel Big Fish CD for my birthday because it was too dirty offered, without my asking, to buy me a Mindless Self Indulgence CD. I almost started laughing, it was so...not right. Anyway, the CD is FABULOUS! I love the song Lights Out. And the art is exactly what you'd expect from Jhonen Vasquez- surreal, darkly funny, and gorgeous. Happiness abounds in the land of Jen.

By the way, I know you don't care about this but it made my effing day.
