Black Rose- The Legend of Rosalie Gambino
Background: Rosalie was a young woman living in Durem when she met Count Vladimir Von Helson. Vladmir swore his love to her, and after running away with him, bore him two children. Damian and Louie. However, becoming fearful of her husband’s vampire ways, she fled into the arms of the young Johnny K. Gambino, and they were wed. They had a child together, Gino. However, Rosalie could not forget her two children still living in that horrible mansion, so with the help of a good friend, Edmund, she snuck up to the mansion late one night and went to rescue her two children. Vampire or not, she couldn’t leave them in that horrible place.
Waking the children from their beds, She took them from the mansion, in the pouring rain, and began to flee. However, she was separated from Edmund in the night, and ran into Vladimir and Zhivago.
The events following this incident are documented in the Gaian MMVII Comics, Damian and Unveiled.
In the present day, Vladimir is dead. Louie, Damian (Now called Ian), and Gino are carrying on mostly normal lives. Ian and Gino are still competing over the affections of Sasha, Louie in a relationship with the newly Vampire-ized Moria, and the Von Helson Sisters are relieved to be free of their father, and are back to being social (though undead) butterflies. Zhivago is in hiding somewhere,
But all is not well on Gaia. It all begins with a mysterious disturbance on Gaia.
Quest 1: Roses for Rina.
[NPC] Rina
Rina needs some rare white roses for a customer. White Roses grow in the Durem Mountains.
Mission: Collect 1x Bouquet of White Roses.
Notes: Upon arriving at the Rose Garden in the Durem Mountains, (Which doesn’t actually have to be a Battle System or flash location, it could just be a page) one will find that all of the roses are black and wilted. You will receive one Bouquet of Black Roses, and a message saying to take them to Rina. Lingering in the area will result in an “You feel seriously creeped out and run back to town” message. Upon returning the roses to Rina, she will express concern, but reward you anyway, and ask you to go see Katsumi at the Zen Gardens.
Quest 2: Apparition in the Rose Garden.
[NPC] Katsumi
The Shrine Maiden Katsumi is an expert in the world of spirits, maybe she can help you figure out what’s wrong in the Rose Garden.
Step 1: Visit Katsumi in the Rose Garden. She will ask you for help identifying the spirit, as she cannot leave the shrine unattended.
Step 2: Obtain 1 Soul Camera, and 1 Soul Film from the House on the Hill.
Step 3: Go to the Rose Garden at night. A mysterious light will be present in the garden. Use the new “Take a Picture” option to take a snapshot.
Step 4: Give the Soul Film to Labtech Gene for his experimental development process. You will receive 1 “Photo of a Ghost”.
Step 5: Give the Photo of a Ghost to Katsumi. She will offer to make you a “Miko’s Seal”, to let you speak with the ghost, but she needs to know the Ghost’s identity. She will ask you to show the Photo of a Ghost to people around Gaia, asking for information.
Quest 3: Identity of a Lost Soul.
[NPC] Katsumi.
This quest simply involves pressing a “Show Photo” button to every NPC. They’ll have varied reactions.
Rufus will say it looks familiar, and that Ian has talked about a woman like that. While Moria will say something similar about Louie. Only showing the Photo to Edmund will have a full reaction. Edmund will identify the ghost as Rosalie. He will give you a Letter from Edmund. Take the Letter from Edmund to Katsumi, and she will give you the Miko’s Seal, and ask you to perform the Exorcism.
Quest 4: The Exorcism of Rosalie Gambino
[NPC] Rosalie.
Go to the Rose Garden at night, and use the Miko’s Seal to talk to Rosalie. Unfortunately, Rosalie doesn’t seem to be willing to chat at the moment, as she is too busy talking to herself. She mentions Johnny, and the Children. She also laments over how she was never able to sing them all their favorite lullaby together, but since she’s been dead, she has forgotten how it goes.
In order to send Rosalie to the next life, you need to gather Ian, Louie, and Gino at the Rose Garden, and play Rosalie’s Lullaby. But since you can’t remember the tune, the best be would be to go ask if anyone remembers it.
Quest 5: The Lullaby
[NPC] Jeebus
You need to go to the Gambino Mansion in order to find Gino, but Jeebus won’t let you in unless you can prove you’re a friend of Gambino’s.
Step 1. Go Visit Labtech Gene down at G-Corp Labs. He will offer to give you his G-Crest in exchange for some ingredients, which you can get easily from the Battle System.
Step 2. Give the G Crest to Jeebus, and he’ll grudgingly give you access to the Gambino Mansion.
Step 3. Johnny K. Gambino will angrily ask you what you’re doing in his home. Show him the Photo of a Ghost, and he’ll say that he doesn’t remember what song Rosalie sang Gino, but he can remember how it began. After humorously attempting to sing the first few notes, you will receive the first of Rosalie’s Melodies. (LOL Mother Reference). He will then say that Gino had run off somewhere to go try and woo Sasha. So head to Buccaneer Boardwalk.
Quest 6: A Gift for the Island Girl.
[NPC] Gino
Upon finding Gino at Buccaneer Boardwalk, it appears he’s looking frantically for a gift to give to Sasha.
Step 1. Gino will give you “Gino’s Letter” Give Gino’s Letter to Agatha at Barton Jewelers, and she will tell you that she is all out of that particular item, but thinks that Flynn might have something for Gino.
Step 2. Give Gino’s Letter to Flynn, and she will give you a Beautiful Pendant.
Step 3. Give the Beautiful Pendant to Gino, and watch as he gives it to Sasha. He will be so happy that he’ll give you an a**-Cape.
Step 4. Gino will now let you show him the Photo of a Ghost. Gino will say that he’s too young to remember his mothers full lullaby, but will try as best as he can. He will give you the Second Rosalie’s Melody, and agree to go to the Rose Garden when you finish the song.
Quest 7: Where’s Ian?
[NPC] Rufus
Rufus is still in his shop, but where’s Ian?
Step 1. Show Rufus the G-Crest. He’ll tell you that Ian is still in hiding, and will remain so until Zhivago is taken care of.
Step 2. Go onto the Battle System, head to the House on the Hill, and Talk to Nicolae, who happens to have set up shop there. He says he’s seen a strange bat fly in and out of the attic, and will offer to give you a Skeleton Key for 500 gold. Buy it.
Step 3. Use the Skeleton Key on the Attic Door, and step inside. The attic has only one NPC in it, Zhivago. Talk to him.
Step 4. From this moment, you have two options. Either you can engage Zhivago in a fight, or you can Fangirl over him, which will cause a fight anyway. You’ll be teleported to House on the Hill: Dance Macabre (u see wat i did der? lol), and have to fight Zhivago. He’s undead, so you can’t kill him. However, using healing rings will damage him, and using Defib will Daze him instantly. Zhivago will give in, and give you his rifle.
Step 5. Show the rifle to Rufus, and he’ll let you keep it, and open the door to Barton Boutique’s Back Room, where you can talk to Ian.
Step 6. Show Ian the Photo of a Ghost. He’ll return to his shop, and give you another part of Rosalie’s Melody.
Quest 8: Are you Ready to Rock?
[NPC] Moria
Since you can’t just walk up to the Von Helson Manor, you’ll need to get help from the only person with a direct connection to Louie, Moria.
Step 1. Moira is currently writing a song for her band, Rock Puppy. However, she needs some Guitar strings. But not just any Guitar strings. These guitar strings are made from the hair of a furry trout.
Step 2. Go fishing with special bait Moria gives you, until you catch 3 Furry Trout.
Step 3. Use the Fishing Exchange to get 1 set of Guitar Strings.
Step 4. Give Moria the Strings, and she’ll play you a riff she learned from Louie. The Riff is the last part of Rosalie’s Melody! But you’ll need the lyrics…
Quest 9: Lord of the Vampire’s.
[NPC] Moria
Louie is locked away in his Mansion, and Moria doesn’t have a Key. She does however, have half of a V Crest.
Step 1. Take the V-Crest Half to the Von Helson Mansion in Durem, Doing so will teleport you to a special Battle System map.
Step 2. Search the Mansion until you find the Key to the Western Spire. Head up there and you’ll find the Twins, who aren’t exactly happy you’ve dropped in. The Twins will challenge you to a fight.
The Twins are a tough Boss. Marie knows Blood Revival, and Anna Corrine has high attack power. However, casting Defib on Marie and then Anna Corrine will knock them both out. They’ll drop the other half of the V-Crest, then kick you out.
Step 3. Take the V-Crests to Nicolae, and he’ll craft you a full V Crest, which you can use to enter the Von Helson Manor in the mountains.
Step 4. Show Louie the Photo of a Ghost, and he’ll give you the Lyrics to Rosalie’s Melody.
Quest 10: Rest in Peace.
[NPC] Katsumi
Now that you have all of the Melodies, and all 3 of the Brothers have agreed to come to the rose garden with you, Katsumi will give you the Seal of Sending.
Step 1. At night, go to the Rose Garden. Gino, Ian, Louie, Gambino, Edmund, Moria, and Sasha will be there.
Step 2. When prompted, choose the “Sing the Melody” option. You will be shown a short cutscene of sorts.
Step 3. Rosalie will sing the melody back to you, tell you the final chapter of her story. Afterwards, she will say she is ready to move on to the afterlife.
Step 4. Give Rosalie the seal of sending, and she will vanish, leaving Rosalie’s Chest in her wake. The NPCs will insist you keep the chest, as a reward for helping Rosalie move on to the next life.
Rosalie’s Chest will contain Rosalie’s Ring, a Garlic Plushie, and the special Rose Sword, Rose gown, and Rose Hat. You will also receive a seal on your profile for clearing the Black Rose Quest.
Bonus Quest: The White Roses
[NPC] Rina.
Returning to the Rose Garden after clearing the Black Rose Quest allows you to pick some White Roses, which you can exchange with Rina for White Rose versions of the Rose Set.

But some parts seem strained (hiring a supposed cosmetic and genetic sculptor [gene] to develop film) and others are a bit awkward on the side of UI (there'd have to be a tooltip or speech bubble from an NPC that warns you that you'd need to heal Zhivago to defeat him).
