Night was Mine. Forever as long as I was dead, or so I thought. It has been a week since he has kissed me, a weak since he had loved me. I miss him looking at me. I asked him yesterday what was wrong and why he didn't look at me anymore. He sighed and walked away. I wish we couldn't fight. The good thing is that he found more about my death. He said that more than one person was in on it, or something like that. I'm starting to lose faith, I'm starting to not care if I stay dead. Other people don't get chances like mine so what makes me so special? I sit on the couch that used to be where a dresser was everyday. I just sit and stare at the carpet. Without Night the afterlife is completely boring, a void of nothingness that I have to live in. The other day I saw a spirit, he frightened me even though I knew he couldn't hurt me. He hung himself over and over again for three days straight, trying to say that he wanted to kill himself more in the afterlife, to be gone from this void of nothingness. I sighed. Night hasn't been back for awhile, he's been out researching. I asked if I could come along, but he said he could handle it himself. Now I wait and wait and wait. I can't do anything, but sit and stare at that carpet. Suddenly as I start to make pictures out of the carpet a spirit popped up in front of me. I jumped a little. "Hi!" He said enthusiastically. I smiled nervously. "I'm Kain! I'm a friend of Night's." He said once more with the same enthusiasm. "Oh, Hi." Wow a friend of Night's! Someone to talk to!!! I almost screamed just to hear my voice! "I thought you might be bored and I was bored too so I just came over!" He said with a smile and sat on the floor. He was quite handsome. Was everyone that hung out with Night so gorgeous? He had strawberry blonde hair that was very dark. His eyes were hazel and had a sparkle to them. His outfit was almost like Night's. He had a purple vest with black jeans and a white shirt. The cutest thing about him was his smile and his circular glasses. When you were around him he just made you feel happy. "Cool." I said. How dumb? Cool? What the hell was that? Whats so cool? He laughed. "Your funny." I had to laugh with him. "Why Thank You!" I said pointing my chin up. I looked ridiculously proud. He laughed more. "So Kain, are you a vampire too?" My lips shook a little as I said vampire, I tend to do it a lot. "Yep!" He said smiling with his fangs. "How long have you been friends with Night?" He sighed and seemed to be counting in his head. A minute passed by. Two Minutes. Three Minutes. Finally he spoke. "Well I've known him since way back. I met him one cold dark night feasting on a young girl. It was my sister, I wanted to kill him so bad! I wanted to feel his neck snap in my hands, but instead he turned me. He showed me the way of a vampire. I tried to escape his watchful eye over me, I loathed him and wanted to kill, but was too weak. One day he told me that a man had raped my sister and already killed her, so Night hunted him down and killed him for his horrible crime. He tried to change her, but failed. So that's kinda how we became friends, I've stuck with him since I don't know how long. Plus he's hot!!" He laughed and smiled. It was a dark and depressing story, but he said it with something of a smile. It reminded me of how I died. Was Night reliving that tragic night allover again by helping me? Is that why he's been so distant? I asked myself that and it played over and over again in my head. Kain interrupted me. "You know Aliyah, I don't want to be a party pooper, but you can't be with Night, your his case and he can't have a relationship with his case." I gulped down my sorrow and just stared at him. "What" slipped from my mouth in a whisper. "Yeah, that's the rules." I almost cried. "But I don't care if I'm dead, I just want Night." I felt a tear. Kain grabbed my shoulder. As if he could reassure me, psh yeah right! I was in total shock. Just then Night came in. He looked faded, like he was going to disappear. It was like seeing a ghost that became more ghostly. "Night? Are you Okay?" I asked. He layed down on the carpet. "No." Hoarse was the tone I heard. The voice of weakness. Kain took his hand off my shoulder. I had almost forgotten it was even there. Night just layed there and Kain just watched him. I watched the carpet hoping that Night would get stronger. So I waited and stared at the carpet again. The light slowly moved away as the sun was covered by the clouds, but there was still the carpet just in a darker tone.
