Ch. 1 Christof
11:49 pm
Retreian forest

“You came,” said a familiar voice.
“You said midnight, but I didn’t want to keep you waiting,” replied Anaza.
The person she responded to stood up from the boulder he was sitting on. “Do you have any idea why tonight is so special for you?” he asked.
Anaza looked at him with pale blue eyes. “I suppose this is why you brought me here, to tell me why I’m so important to the humans of this country.”
He glanced back at her, but with violent red eyes. “This night, is the beginning of the end. Tonight, your fate will be chosen, right here, right now.”
“But, why me? Why I am I so important? Is this because I was born by a human and a vampire?!” she asked furiously.
“You have the right to know about your past, and your future. The only child being born with pale blue eyes, fathered by a vampire and mothered by a human, tonight you would be destined to guide the humans out of Retreian, or lead the vampires to a new world order.” He gets closer to Anaza and lifts her chin up. “Your eyes haven’t received their full color yet. After midnight, they will either turn blue or red, like my own.”
“But, why me?” she argued. “There are other kids out there that are just like me“
“Because the others haven’t lived long enough to see this day!” he interrupted. After sixteen years most of the children born like you have already favored the humans or been bitten. You haven’t. At the strike of midnight you will overcome what you have lived through and receive your true destiny. You will become allies to both races of humans and vampires.”
There was a sudden rustle in the brush behind them followed by a howl.
“A werewolf? Now?” Anaza said in shock.
He shook his head, but kept his eyes in the direction of where the horrid sound came from. “Not just any werewolf, the werewolf. Christof.”
“So glad you’ve heard of me, vampire,” the voice came from behind them. They both turn around to see who was talking. Staring back at them was a pair of glowing yellow eyes.
Anaza stood frozen in terror. Her eyes couldn’t pull away from Christof’s gaze, which was boring down into her mind, searching for weaknesses. All of a sudden, she felt the pressure of the werewolf’s gaze lift away. Anaza looks to see what had happened when she saw the vampire tackling Christof. “You must leave,” he said to her while struggling to keep Christof away from her. “Go, now!” he pushed Christof off of him.
“I won’t let that human get away,” Christof snarled and ran past the vampire and comes after Anaza. Anaza runs but Christof easily catches up and lashes his claws.
Anaza screams and falls as she felt a searing pain emit from her leg and lands onto the mossy forest ground. Christof creeps over her like a predator over prey and snarls, showing his giant gleaming fangs. He gets nearer to her face until the vampire runs and pushes Christof off of her and against a tree. ”Anaza, you have to live, you cannot die here like this.” He exams her body to see where she was injured. He ran his fingers against her blood-covered leg and she winces in pain. The vampire picks her up and quickly hides her behind a nearby tree, opposed to where Christof was lying. “Get out of here, hide do whatever you can to live a few minutes longer. I won’t allow you die here like this. You must try to leave here, so you can be safe for your true beginning.” Nearby, they both heard a growl in frustration and the vampire gets up. “Stay out of sight, and don’t speak my name.” he runs after Christof and starts lashing Christof with his extended razor-sharp nails.
Anaza turns to her leg. It bore 2 deep gashes from Christof’s claws. She looks up into the sky and finds the full moon emitting its light everywhere, giving the forest a silvery glow. Studying the moon’s position, it was only a few minutes until midnight. With the help of tree she was under, Anaza struggled to get onto her feet. She peaked from the side of the tree to see what was going on. When her yes adjusted to the lighting, Christof threw his powerful paw against the vampire’s chest and flung him against the boulder was once sitting on. Christof creeps over him, leering closer and closer.
“You’re mine now, vampire,” he snarls.
I can’t, Anaza thought to herself. But I must! “Kanamoru!” she yells as a streak of light from the moon hits her with incredible force, easing the pain in her leg. She felt, strange, like somehow all the hard times she had dealt with in the past was being taken away.
The vampire’s eyes shot open and darts them in the scream’s direction and widen when he sees part of Anaza engulfed in bright light. The light dims, and Anaza collapses. Christof hears a yell, feels himself being pushed from underneath him and is thrown into the air. He lands with a thud on the mossy surface of the forest. Christof gets up and shakes his head and looks. Standing before him, was the vampire he was once overcoming, but with a change in the atmosphere. “Damn it,” he growled. “I should have known you were never a nightwalker at all!”
“Take it all in,” Kanamoru said. “If you can live that long. Feel my wrath!” he launches himself into the air and with incredible speed, dives down towards Christof, his blade at the ready.
