Hello everyone =3
Pt. 3
“Hmmm… Lost are we?”, he looked down at me. The man came closer again. “You are in Almien, my little friend.” With two fingers on the edge, he moved his hat lower, made a small polite bow and walked away. He walked past a lantern and went into one of the many darkened alleys.
I was left on my own. “… I’ve never heard of a place called Almien…” The was wind still blowing against my skin, trying so hard to freeze me. It had already succeeded, for my skin was mostly gone numb.
Why did that man had to leave me like this? It’s snowing and my clothes aren’t meant to be worn outside for God’s sake!
Tiny fuzzy snowflakes fell from the sky as I clenched my fists. I decided to try and follow the man’s tracks. But the snow was blowing in my face, as if it did not want me to find the gentleman. My feet leaving footsteps, a cold breeze passing my legs, how could it get worse. The alley the man had slipped into should still have marks from his shoes, since not much time had passed.
The alley was dark, yet warmer than the lighted street. Most likely because people had fireplaces in their houses. The houses that were build close against each other.
I started to walk faster. If I could not find him, the chance of safety will only be smaller. The alley was apparently straight. I could see a square with cafés and stores around it. The light coming from the cafés were shining bright on the snowy ground. He must be somewhere in here. Maybe he owned one of the shops.
At this point I didn’t actually care where he was. Since it was probably nice and warm inside these cafés. I’d like the feeling of my body back. Though there was still a possibility the man did not enter a building and was still roaming through the alleys.
Around the right corner shone the brightest light, I could see people sitting on the barstools inside. It looked so cosy, I just had to go in. When I opened the door a warm tingly feeling overcame me. I closed my eyes for only a second. On my bare feet I entered the café and closed the door. The people were enjoying themselves with a beer, only few noticed I came in.
There was a fireplace, wooden chairs standing in half a circle around it. The feeling in my fingers and feet came back to me as I sat down on one of the chairs. “Well well, look at that…”, the voice of an old man said loud and clear, “you’re dressed as if it’s summer!” The man said with a denigrating tone.
I could feel all eyes staring at me. Caring I did not, as long as I could warm my body up. It was a miracle I hadn’t passed out. Mumbling at the barstools.
Suddenly I heard footsteps coming nearer. I slowly turned around. “Can I get you anything love?”, it was the warm voice of a somewhat chubby woman, who looked at me with a frown. The woman had long blond hair with a friendly face. “No, I’m fine, thank you”, I said, trying to sound confident.
“Definitely not from here… Strange accent…” I looked over my shoulder and saw most of the men sitting at the bar, starring at me. I smiled to them.
