I love Phantom of the Opera... I love Erik and his torchured soul and how he expresses his emotions. The whole concept is just so... deep. I've read all of the book except for the last 30 pages of the epilogue. I've listened to the movie soundtrack, to two different play soundtracks, and I own the movie. I just... love it.
I used to fantisize about having an angel watch me like Christine had, but then I realized what Erik really was after reading the book: a pervert. He's not a bad pervert, but he's been made into a pervert after all the world has done to him... His first scrap of clothing from his mom was a mask (it says in the play and in the book)! I mean, what kind of thing does that do to your self esteem? Also, in the movie, he was thrown in a circus when he was just a tiny kid, lived in a dingy cage, was laughed and scorned at and was called the Devil's Child! All this because his face was so... repulsive. He's a genius... He's an architect because he designed the Opera House and built it... He built his home, so you better believe it was going to be good! And his music... It covers every emotion... Hatred, devotion, sympathy, begging for the latter, intimidation, fear...
"Masquerade! Paper faces on parade! Masquerade! Find your place so the world will never find you! Masquerade! Every face a different shade! Masquerade! Look around, there's another mask behind you! Flash of rose flash of rogue, fool and king fool and goose! Green and black green and priest, face of rogue face of beast! Faces! Take a turn take ride on the merry go round...!" It gets sadder... and sadder... Does that seem to reflect anything? Masquerade, seething shadows, breathing eyes, Masquerade you can fool any friend who ever knew you! Leering satyrs, bleering eyes, Masquerade! Run and hide but a face will still persue you!"

I'm hardly on, but when I'm on, I'm on. =)
I'd really like an elegant veil or pixie or anything else that's pretty! <3
