i have taken to watching a new anime that i fine very interesting for more than one reason... higurashi no naku koro ni... this anime is about the life of a few children dealing with a curse that plagues them all but also posses some depending on which episodes you check out.

1-4: the main character is a boy who moves to the new town i think it was spelt Hinowazama, moving on... this boy has a good relationship with 4 girls in the village and acts to join in there little group. as the story goes on though the main character talks with a police official who says his friends are connected to the murders in various ways... not saying they did it but hinting toward something bigger. as he begins to talk more with the policemen the older girls start to mistrust and haunt him a lot even telling him what he was really doing right after he lies about what he really has done.
the younger of the two older acting crazy at this point but snapping back to normal right after tries to get closer to him and pull him in toward her group... he begins to fear them making there relationship distance even further... she begins to tell him of another boy she knew who left and how she wished it hadn't happened... soon the boy begins to take every precaution.... lessening his sleep and carrying a bat around with him that he later finds out belongs to the previous boy. the girls act scared but then snap into a state of mockery as he practices with the bat and acts cold toward them... her masquerade convinces anyone watching but the boy is to scared to trust her. he is followed by her and then in the forest she confronts him one last time and tells him she is his only chance... she even kisses him but then laughs crazily and wildly afterward and he runs only to be attacked and knocked out.
he wakes up in one of there homes but still believes them as evil... there group before used to have games and give punishment to the loser but only in the sense of childly things nothing extreme... they play this game one last time... the one who kissed him now restrains him while the other holds a needle with an injection. he struggles and then it shows him after he retaliates and kills them with a bat... at this point he hates this ending to this conflict. after all they were his friends... as the men who knocked him out park outside he runs away to a near phone booth and calls the police. he tells them that he is being followed and is about to die...
later the police find him and his throat has been riped out by his own hand... the injection as it appeared creates the illusion of death making its victim terminate himself... a sad ending indeed

after that it starts over with new details and a new story line that is just as tantalizing as the last. check it out somewhere
