I was earlier referring to the comments some people have made and I agree with about Shinzon rivaling Khan in his badassness. I actually still liked Shinzon's evilness better, but I didn't see the episode with Khan. And now I have to watch the return of Spock! I hate you, Sam! She got me Spock addicted so bad I didn't even laugh at Shatner when I was watching the movie! Anyways, I found 5 similarities between the stories of Wrath of Khan and Nemesis and five similarities between Khan and Shinzon (which means Jean-Luc and Shinzon are still more alike to each other. Bu hey, they share DNA. How could they not be?)
Yes, Sam. I copied most of this from the comment on your profile. What was the use of retyping it?
Back to my movie review. Some people complained the Nemesis was "too cliche." But I got to say, what is more cliche than getting warp power at the last second before the countdown to doom is over like in Wrath of Khan? Having fighting scenes is not cliche. (This guy was saying that because they had fighting scenes like they did the movie was cliche. How weird is that?) Another complaint I heard about Nemesis from this complainer was that they didn't utilize their possibilities (like blasting the lights because Remus hate the light) But they also complained about Jean-Luc utilizing his star fleet training and kicking all those Reman's asses. So they need to pick a side. Another thing is Data's leap from the Enterprise to the Scemitar. WHY WAS HE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE COOLEST THING IN THE MOVIE?! I don't care if they have shuttles! It was rocking! Then this guy called the Captain's prerogative the "Prime directive." and said Jean-Luc put his life at danger because it's fun to drive dune buggies. Uh...where you listening, dude? Jean-Luc explains that there is no "foreseeable danger." Idiot. Also, making Jean-luc wait for 17 hours even though Shinzon was dieing was testing his patience. Remember, Shinzon's obsessed with that. The last complaint that peeved me was that after killing all those Remans Jean-Luc doesn't pick up a gun and shoot Shinzon. Well, I say to you "Think back to when jean-Luc's brother and nephew died. He said he felt like it was his duty to carry on the Picard line now. He's kind of an emotional guy, and didn't want to kill this man who he wishes he could think of as a son." You people who complained about that have the emotional range of a teaspoon! One thing I still can't explain, though, was how Shinzon ran onto that thing and died when Jean-Luc made it quiet clear that he was bringing it down so he would do just that. It was stupid. Another thing was Shinzon did that made no sense was mind-raping Troi. It didn't need to be in there and wasn't neccessary to show Shinzon's evilness. I think Shinzon's casting (Tom Hardy) was excellent as well. And I always liked the actors from the Enterprise crew. The music was good and fit well with the story, too. So I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Good graphics, generally good story, nice characters and mystery, good acting and bittersweet ending. We shall miss you, Data. Now as for Wrath of Khan, of course the graphics were taken from a pile of crap and set in there. But the story was good. Spocks last words were excellently written and showed his personality well. Shatner didn't act that badly. I loved the badguy. No scenes seemed to be too randomly added or unnecessary. I really liked how Jim got off his pedistool and hugged his son. A good father can learn how to drop his pride and it gave me more respect for his character. The music fit well with this story as well, but it was the usual music. But you had to of watched certain episodes or some of the story was confusing. That I didn't like. Some of it was poorly explained. Khan's actor either talked too low, or the film was horrible. I hate my two foot speakers on volume 42 just to hear him and it nearly blew my ears out when the music suddenly started. I know this review isn't as long as my Nemeses one, but I know TNG better. So I ultimately give it a 3 and a half stars out of 5 for not bad, not good acting, good plot, nice characters and mystery, alright music, and a bittersweet ending.
