When it comes to comedy, my mom's always been a tough audience to have. So when she starts laughing until she cries, you know it's a funny movie. Enchanted is about a girl who is about to become a princes when she is thrown into a well by a jealous queen. She wakes up in New York and, while knocking on the fake doors of a cardboard palace, falls into the arms of Robert Philip (who has a daughter named Morgan). Prince Edward, followed by Nathaniel and Pip (the adorable motioning chipmunk) goes in to find her. Enchanted may not be for audiences with a "real" sense of humor (Did you like Chuck and Larry? You MIGHT not like this, but theres still a good chance.), but for those who love the humor of children's stories and like a movie with minimal gay jokes, this is it! Though it has a rather predictable ending to it, the movie is cleverly written. While it holds some childish elements, it's also very humorous. Disney did a great job making the movie cartoonish in the real world. And it's cute. But what couldn't be with a talking squirrel and a character like Giselle? The music was great, and very Disney, so that was a plus for me. On the Director's side of things, Amy Adams did a great job pretending she was in love with love. The transitions were wonderful and creative all at once and the choreography was incredible. Of course, with the (these days) tiny rating of PG it's a great family movie. I counted 5 families in the theature, and they all loved it. I would give Enchanted a 9 out of 10 for humor, acting skill, directing skill, music, and creativity, making my mom laugh, and good old-fashioned family fun, but a predictable ending.
