Summertime
Gather together with your closest friends
To the forest so rich and full of summertime.
Wander through the trees,
Feel the sun beating down,
Lay in the meadows,
Let the cattail tickle your fingers.
Sit by the babbling brook,
Listen to it speak.
Oh the things it says are wonderful,
But only to those who listen.
Feel the soft cool breeze,
Whisper in your ear,
The secrets that the forest holds,
But only when summer unfolds.
Lillies, roses, daisies,
Open up to wave hello,
The bluebells chime a summer song,
And the crickets yearn to sing along.
Cicadas heard on every tree,
Playing their morose melody,
And even though it may sound sad,
The summer cheer will never fade.
Watch the sky and setting sun,
Gaze at nature's painting,
A work of art so brilliant,
That only Mother Nature can create it.
And as the sky darkens,
The fireflies suddenly appear,
Close your eyes and lay back,
On the lush green grass.
All this beauty and wonder,
Surrounding you as you close your eyes,
Think about all that has happened,
In the forest of summertime.
