i was walking down the street. everything around me as dark and ominous. i didnt know who i was or where i was going. a boy about my age came over to me.
"Riouku? what are u doing out here this late? your parents are worried and i was too. everyone was gonna search for you tomorroow if you didnt show up. where were you?" he said.
i just stood there and looked at him. how did he know me? was my name really Riouku? why did my mind feel so blank? hundreds of questions buzzed though my head. i was so confused.
"earth to Riouku. say something. are you gonna stay silent forever? is something wrong?" he looked worried. "come, we shouldnt stay outside at night. its not safe."
i followed him into his house. he told his parents that he found me but i still didnt understand how he knew me.
"who are you?" i whispered.
he turned and looked at me with a puzzled look."dont you remember who i am?" he asked. i shook my head no. "its me Renji! do u remember my name?" i shook my head again. "do remember the time when i found you in the forest under a tree covered in mud and brought you home?" i shook my head. he lowered his voice."do u remember anything at all?"
"no" i whispered. the doorbell rang and i sat on the couch as Renji went to answer the door. i heard Renji talking to a girl.
"Mika, you wont believe this. Riouku lost her memory!"her said.
Mika answered back."she did? let me in i have to see her its important."
"i dont like that look on your face. whats wrong?"
"two mysterious guys came by my moms shop to ask questions. they were looking for a girl that fit Riouku's description."
"are you sure?"he asked.
"they said something about a flash of light they saw. when they went to see what happened that they saw Riouku sitting there by a tree. the tree had weird markings on it. then Riouku ran off an they wanted to help her."Mika said
"whoah" said Renji. "that tree that they were talking about, is there any chance that it's Riouku's favorite tree?"
Mika sighed"i dunno, but we need to get Riouku to my house."
"why your house? why dont we just take her home?"
"because my grandma specializes in herbal remedies. she might be able to help Riouku regain her memory."
"ok. i hope she can help"said Renji.
Renij and Mika took me to a small hut at the back of the mom's shop.
"Grandma!" said Mika. "We need a cure for amnesia"
"Alrighty then. let me gather the proper herbs. while u wait why dont u have a cup of tea?."
Mika got tea for Renji and I then sat next to us with her own cup of tea. i looked around and noticed my surroundings. there was a light herbal scent that made me relax. i saw clay pots with herbs in them and glass jars with many different color liquids. the jars seemed to glow as if they had magic in them. Mika's grandmother could be heard humming in the back room as she ground the herbs together. when she came back into the room she held a small cup with a shining green liquid inside.
She said"drink this. it should help. it counteracts amesisa spells."
"i have a spell on me??" I asked.
"yes i can see it in your eyes. go on. drink it."she said.
i took a small sip. it tasted terrible. "Yuck" i said.
"Drink it quickly before it loses its effectiveness." she said. "go on. it wont kill you"
quickly i emptied the the cup. could feel memories rushing into my head like blood rushing into numb fingers. remembered that i needed to tell everyone something important.
"Guys, i saw Galbatorix himself in the forest!! he killed my parents and.... he.... tried to kill me but somehow i shielded myself with lightning.
