My "Fantastic" life if you will!
Today, Andrew said that I should write a book. I had been thinking that sounded like fun for a while but I didn't know how to start it or what to write about. But today I just sat down and started writting and I thought that it would be cool to post it on my journal so that if people want they can come read it!! Anyways, here is Chapter one. Let me know what you think and BE HONEST! Thanks! heart

If Forever Never Comes

Chapter 1

I woke up shivering as a cold breeze swept through my room. Rolling over I looked at the clock it was only three A.M. I thought to my self as I shivered again. I stood up and shut my window thinking about how I had to get back to bed so I would be able to get up in the morning. The next day was Friday, and I had to help my mom clean house and I knew she would be up early and ready, so I had to get up with her. Settling back into my warm bed I closed my eyes and was just about to doze off when my cell phone rang. I rolled over and grabbed it; flipping it open and the name that appeared across the screen was a familiar one it was my boyfriend, Donovan.

“Don?” I said sleepily.

“Alex, I am so sorry to wake you but I had to talk to you.” Don said urgently.

“What is it? What’s wrong?”

He sighed, “It’s…I have to see you. Are you home? Can I come over?”

I waited a second contemplating what he had just asked of me.

“Donovan, my parents are asleep. You’re truck is really loud.” I said cautiously.

“Alex, I’ll park away and meet you outside. I have to see you, please.”

I sighed, “Alright, what is it though?”

There was a long pause and he finally spoke.

“I’ll need to see you when I tell you this. I’ll meet you at the end of your drive. I’ll talk to you soon, bye.”

There was a click and I hung up the phone, wide-awake now. I looked at the clock it 3:30 A.M. I pulled on some jeans, brushed my hair, and put it in a ponytail. I looked at myself in the mirror. I was short with light dirty blonde hair and green eyes. I wasn’t super skinny and I wasn’t really large--about average. My skin tone was very light and I couldn’t ever tan, even if I tried. There was something different about me but I wasn’t sure what. Realizing that I had no eyeliner on I thought that might be the problem. I swiped the stick below and above my eyes and then stared back into the mirror. Something was still different. Looking swiftly at the clock I realized it was 3:45. Don should be there soon. I made my bed up to look like I was in it. Tip toeing out of my room and onto the back porch where the night air was cool and fresh I walked quietly across the porch knowing that my parents might be able to hear me.

I slipped on some shoes at the bottom of the porch and walked hastily to the end of the drive. I heard a rustle in the woods behind the house. Pausing to see what it was, I listened to the brush crackle and carry on as my heart started to beat faster as the crackle got closer. I thought I should run to the end of the drive but I couldn’t move. It was like my body was frozen. I stared at the bushes that were moving and listened to them crack. Suddenly a deer bounced out of the brush. At first, I was scared but when I realized what it was a smiled to myself.

I continued my walk down the drive. I saw Donovan leaning against a tree at the end of the driveway. He looked up at me; his face was weary and tired. As though he hadn’t slept for days. I looked at him curiously as he wrapped me into a hug. He finally pulled away after several minuets of holding me. A slight smile crossed his lips, but it soon faded. I scuffed some rocks at my feet not wanting to bring up the subject that appeared to have him so worked up.

“Alex,” He finally said as his voice shook. “I’m leaving. I can’t stay.”

I looked up quickly, “Donovan, why?”

“I…I…have to.” He shivered.

“What is it, please tell me!” My voice cracked. I loved Don. I didn’t want him to leave! He meant everything to me!

“Alex, you have to understand. I don’t want to go. Something…terrible is happening and I can’t stop it.”

I stared at him, “Like what?” I said with a hint of sarcasm. Don was always one for taking things too far.

He stared at me slightly irritated, “I am not kidding. You think I would wake you up at three AM for fun? I know what your parents will do if they catch you. I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t believe it was…real.”

I stared at him for a long time wondering what to say finally I said, “What is real?”

There was a pause and I could tell he was thinking, “I dunno how to put this…”

I rolled my eyes, “Try.”

“My dad—“

I cut him off, “You’re dad is ********!” I said irritated. I didn’t like Don’s dad. He once tried to kill his own wife. The story goes he tried to strangle her, but since there was no proof of that when the cops came the case was dropped and he was given a warning.

He was irate at this moment. “My dad may be crazy but I saw it this time.” He practically yelled.

“Saw what!?!” I matched his tone.

He glared at me, “Alex…come with me. I’ll show you.” He said calmly.

I swallowed hard, “Show me what?” I had a bad feeling about this and I couldn’t shake it. Suddenly I was really cold and I shivered.

“You’ll never believe it unless you see it.” He said patiently.

“Don, just tell me and then I will go and you can prove it.”

He smiled, “If I told you. You wouldn’t come.”

I blinked, “Fine…”

He leaned over and kissed my cheek. “Thank you.”

We walked silently to the end of the drive. We finally reached the truck. I opened the door and got in the passenger side. Don got in the driver's seat, started the truck, and we sped off. I pulled my seat belt over my shoulder and I stared out the window. Sandandenia was a small town and didn’t look much different in the daytime. We pulled up to Don’s house and he put it in park. I unfastened my seat belt and got out of the car.

“Shhh” He said quietly as he grabbed my hand and led the way.

He led me to a cellar. He pulled a ring of keys from his pocket and opened the cellar door. It was dark, cold, and the smell of mold was over powering. As we walked further down the stairs I noticed a new smell. It was a salty rust smell. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. What was that smell? It finally hit me when we reached the bottom of the stairs. It smelled like blood. Don flipped at small switch in the corner of the room. The whole cellar lit up. I scanned the area searching for something that would give a logical explanation for the smell. With no luck I decided to ask.

“Don…what’s that smell.”

He stared at me for a while. “Lemme show you.”

He moved across a room to a large cedar chest. He pulled the same ring of keys from his pocket and searched them for the right one. I walked closer to the chest and him as he tried several keys. Finally one opened the chest. Don started piling various furs and hides outside of the chest. I looked at them curiously.

“Your dad traps right?”

Don looked up at me, “Something like that.”

He went back to pulling out furs. I wondered to myself if that was that the smell that had over taken this room. I pulled one of the furs to my nose. It had a peculiar smell but it wasn’t the one that I smelled. Don must have noticed because he looked up.

“That isn’t it.” He said flatly.

I looked at him for a few seconds, “Then why are we digging through this?”

He looked up and said, “Because this is here…”

As he said that I saw him pull something on the chest. When he did I heard a loud pop from the other corner. Don got up and pushed on the wall and it opened. It was a secret room. I was shocked. I didn’t want to go in there. It was dark and I was kind of afraid. Then I thought about it and realized Don was with me and there was nothing to worry about. He looked at me.

“Don’t be afraid, Alex.”

I smiled, “I’m not. I’m never afraid with you.”

He blushed and put his arm around my waist, leading me back into the dark room.

“You might be after you see this…”

He fumbled on a wall and found a light switch. The whole room lit up and it was full of animal hanging from their legs with their hides ripped off. It was then I realized what the smell was.

“When I was little, my dad always said, ‘Son, don’t be going in that cellar. It’s bad luck for a person to see a trappers stash.’ For the longest time I abided his wishes. Yesterday, he was gone. I was bored and decided to see what was really in here. I traveled down here. I didn’t notice anything unusual but the chest. I looked through it and I found that lever and I came into this room. I noticed nothing unusual but that over there.”

He pointed to a purple curtain.

“Come with me and let’s look behind it.”

I followed him and he stopped in front of it.

“Alex, what you’re going to see… You won’t believe. If you do, you may not talk to me anymore… So before you see this I want you to know, I love you and I would never lie to you about this…”

I leaned up and kissed him, “No matter what his behind your curtain I will love you.”

He turned and opened the curtain inside where several animals that had not been processed yet. As I looked at one of the dead bears I noticed two small holes on it neck. I turned to Donovan.

“What is this?”

He looked at me, “What does it look like.”

I smiled, “Like vampire teeth.”

He didn’t smile back. “I know…shouldn’t there be some kind of wound from where it was trapped or something?”

I looked at him. “I suppose so…”

He looked at me with a very serious face, “There isn’t a single mark besides the two holes in the neck on any of these animals.”

I stared at him and then I scanned the animals. He was right.

“Remember when my dad tried to kill my mom?”

I looked at him, “Yeah…”

“She says he never came at her with any type of weapon…”

I said, “Yeah, so? Everyone said he was going at her like he was going to break her neck or something.”

”No, she told them that. She later told me he was trying to bite her neck.”

I shuddered as I realized what he was getting at. “This is impossible!” I shrieked.

He stared at the floor, “Yes, I know”

After several moments of silence, “Stay at my place. I’ll tell my parents yours are fighting and you need a place to crash. I think they will let you.”

He looked at me, “You really think so?”

“Yes, I do.”

Well, that's it. Tell me if you like it, if it was making sense, if you could actually visualize it and stuff like that! I hope you like it! Leave me comments!! heart
