Now, something I found in the forums of one of my guilds piqued my interest. It was the talk of time travel, black holes and the such.
Now, on the possibilty of time travel itself...many problems in that general area. One idea that came up was involving the matter of the traveler. There is a constant number of matter in the universe, and it remains the same. If you were to go back in time, the matter your body contains would be subtracted from the present and added to the past where you went to. If you went to the future, the same effect applies. It would cause an imbalance, and cause a paradox.
Now, paradoxes are an interesting concept by themselves. It is the belief that if certain events are altered in the past and future the universe will collapse and cause the end of everything. Basically, If you went back in time and saw yourself, there cannot be two of you, so it would violate the laws of existence, and everything would end. It applies to the future also.
Now, If we discovered time travel, I would have a theory on certain "time periods". There would be five, a present, near past, near future, far future, and far past. Each one of those would have different consequences upon the other, like if you altered far past, it would effect everything. Near past, everything but far past. Near future would effect far future, and far future would effect everything beyond.
Okay, last bit of thought. Do not get space and time confused. Someone who posted to this idea on some forums said that he thought that everywhere in the universe a different thing is happening to you at the same time. No. That would be probability of the present and past. All of those things could have happened, but they didn't happen because every event before that made that one moment the way it was.Time is extremely intricate. Anyway, I'm running out of time, school is about starting. Goodbye.
