{*TBD = To Be Discussed

Mini Deadlines {*TBD -7/28/2012
What the suggestion indicates:
To create mini deadlines for the end of each week or two that helps with the progression of the magazine. Each category of staff member (artist, graphic designers, writers..ect) will have mini deadlines assigned to them based off of what they have to get done for the main deadline.

Further Explanation {Examples:
A writer would be given these sort of deadlines:
1}Week of x/xx/xx -
○Gather subject of write-ups
○Create Headlines/Subheadlines
○Gather Quotes

2}Week of x/xx/xx -
○Start on write ups {Half Required

3}Week of x/xx/xx through x/xx/xx {Final Writer Deadline
○Finish write ups
○Proof read

Then they would send the write-ups to the editors to proof-read, which then would be sent to the graphic designers to put on the page {Or however it works}
The same sort of system would go for the other staff categories in correspondence to what they must do.

Pros:
By having this system it allows for work to be time orginized and well planned out instead of rushed or procrastinated on. This also allows for the magazine to plan out how much time each staff will have to work on their page before they must send it for final proofing which will also give the editors their own organized time too

Joint Shop {*TBD -7/28/2012
What the suggestion indicates:
For the artists graphic designers of G.I. create joint shops in order to bring in revenue for the guild.

Further Explanation:
Artists(or Graphic Designers) of Gaian Illustration would create a joint art shop and sell their works. One-fourth of the profits gained would go towards Gaian Illustration leaving three-fourths profit for the artists to split/receive.

Pros:
This will not only bring in good flowing revenue for the Magazine but it will also spread word of the Artist/Graphic Designer and Magazine. Another addition is this will give the magazine artists/graphic designers more opportunities to grow in their skills, gain some more gold and help put in gold towards the payroll for the hard work of the other staff members.

Training {*TBD -7/29/2012
What the suggestion indicates:
To establish a training program for new recruits, designating one to two people in each staff category to be the trainers.

Further Explanation:
Once the magazine starts getting similar trends and ways things are done we will need to be able to establish the system of our magazine with any new staff member that might join us later on. By putting in a training system we will be able to choose up to two "trainers" from each staff category to take on any new recruits to their area (graphics, art, editing..ect).

Lets say a new graphic designer joins the guild, and we already have a set layout and originization of the magazine, what the trainer would do is elaborate on how things are set up for the base layout and where things should generally go. Also giving some tips on what NOT to do, like cut off things and overlay images in a certain area (making things look cluttered). Now it is true that some of the things taught might be common sense but it will make everything much more organized, especially for those who has never worked for a magazine before..

Pros:
The system will make things much more orginize and keep everyone on the same page. There will be less confusion on how things should be done for the magazine and not only helps the trainees grow but enables more teamwork between crew and helps with leadership. As well as testing the capability of the 'trainee/trial' staff, seeing if they are up to the standards of the magazine before throwing them with the big fishes.
