Repulsive
Tis the season to be Jolly....Tis the season my a**.

Please, Don't think of me as being a Scruge or a wet towel in the midst of the over all spirit but I've come to dread Christmas over the years.

Aside from the snow, warm fires, and the birth of my Messaiah there's little I enjoy about the holiday, or rather, what the holiday has become.

No, I do not believe in the Capitialistic splinder of the fat man in the red suit. No I do not condone to sacrificeing a family's hard earned money for trivial and rediculas seasonal decore. No I do not wish to celebrate a day where, even if your bad, as long as you go to sleep early you will be bribed with lots and lots of toys.

Who in God's name started this crap? I mean, for Christ sake (litterally)! It makes me wonder about people. Santa is like the key element in why people don't believe in God anymore. Your parents have you believe in this Jolly ol' Saint Nick for so long that when they drop the ball about his existance you question all the other things they may not be telling you. I had the hardest time swallowing the fact there was no Santa but the more you think about it the more common sense begins to sink in.

I mean, come on! How gullible do you have to be? A fat man, in a red suit, FLYING (not rideing but FLYING) through the air in a sled that can carry enough toys for every kid in the world, being pulled by "magic" reindeer (One with a radioactive nose I hear) and delievering joy to EVERYONE in the world in less then one night.

12 hours for 3 billion some odd people...I wish my net server could work that fast. xd

Then, once your trusted parents convince you that the Jolly man is real, teaching you to stretch your Godly faith for something that fills the Capitialistic Man's pockets, they tell you it was all just a lie that is as big and fat as the red man himself.

Holy s**t! Santa's not real? Well if Santa's not real....then....is God?

I mean, God does some amazing things too like part the ocean, create the world, send down his only son who also has magical powers...

How do we know we're not being decieved?

I know the whole Santa thing is a fun game, but I couldn't tramatize my kids like that for the sake of toys.

Not only does the who "Santa" conspiracy pull away from the true meaning of CHRISTmas but it also makes us question the whole holiday in the first place!

Kinda wish I was done bitching, but I still have some steam to spew. Another thing I dislike about Christmas is how it changes people. One day that sweet old lady next door is baking cookies, the next day she's biteing someones ear off in order to grab the last Furby for her grandchildren. It's absolutely REPULSIVE! This is NOT, I repeat, NOT how Christ wanted people to celebrate the holidays. Good will to men? No one thinks of that anymore, now it's all 'give me give me' I've been a good little boy/girl. stare

Then one starts to notice the changes that occur in our own families. First there's the children who put on fake smiles and do extra chores just to get that special Pok'emon doo-hicky or that barbie doll car. Do you think they give a rats a** about caroling, spreading good will, helping the less fortunate, or just spending time with family? Some perhaps, but most are in it for the loot.

Second is the Parents. The typical Christmas time father is found swearing his head off when he plugs in the Christmas Tree and that one light, that one single light that's broken, makes the entire tree go dark. Then he has to start all over again till he figures out what went wrong. If that weren't enough, imagin how hard it must be to go out and have to repeat the same process on a ladder 12 feet in the air leaned up against your house? It's hazardous, it's un-nessasary, it burns up more energy then you can afford and is a leading cause to house fires.

Then we have the "everything's got to go off with out a hitch" mother who cooks, works, puts up the decorations just the way she wants them, and tries to put on a happy face when all the in-laws come marching in and destroy everything.

Infatuated with the holiday bliss, both parents are so up-tight at this point with only a month or so to get everything done in that they often times forget to sleep and even forget to eat. They get sick but there's nothing they can do about it. Can't miss work or else take time away from the precious Christmas holiday. Can't rest at home in fear of not getting all the presents purchessed and fruit cake mailed.

Christmas has become a living nightmare. I'm sorry to say it but someone had to. No one gives a flying s**t about Jesus, holiday cheer, those eight lights of Hanauka (sp?), or the black heitage of Kwanza. They only care about gifts, images, and trying to pretend their happy when, on the inside, they feel exhasted.

When I'm old enough to celebrate Christmas on my own I'll be damned if I pull any of this crap.

My Ideal Christmas: Spending time with the ones I love, exchange maybe one or two THOUGHTFUL even (Dare I say it) HOME MADE presents, and snuggle up to the fire and be thankful for what we have and blessed be Jesus, our lord and Saviour.
