Current advice from Kakashi-sensei (That's me ^^):
Sometimes it's better not to think too much, because concepts tend to become convoluted, especially in the minds of those who suffer from depression. Just act. ^^ (But remember not to jump out of the airplane before putting your parachute on. It's usually a bad idea...) And uh... Rai, actually do a little bit of thinking before taking the bait for anything that just seems too easy. ^^ '
As for martial arts, all of them are helpful. It's not so much as the martial art type itself but rather your dedication to learning it and how well it fits you. When it comes to real self-defense, it's your own instincts and reflexes that should be kicking in, so the reason as to why study it at all is because it'll help you stretch out and kick correctly and so forth. You might find yourself doing judo stuff on reflex rather than what you've learned in your particular martial art, but it's the training that you've done that got you there. Uh... get it? ^^ ' And you might want to check out Krav Maga. It's meant to be serious and effective, worth using in the military.
